Chapter 16

A couple of weeks went by and today is May twenty-seventh.

After school, I hung out with Katie, Hazel, Calypso and Rachel at Hazel's house.

"So-oo," Rachel asked in a singsong voice, "Katie, how's it going with Travis?"

Katie sighed with happiness, "he's so nice."
Hazel, Cal, Rachel and I squealed. I have to say, I don't think I've ever had girly friends that sit around, eating popcorn, talking about boys while watching rom-coms. See, Piper is a tomboy and hates drooling over guys as her mother cheated on her dad years ago, before she abandoned them. Piper is definitely drop-dead gorgeous but she doesn't show it, and I wish she did.

"I can just imagine you're wedding," Cal said, dreamily.

We continued to gawk over guys for an hour, when the movie was over, plus Ms. Levesque, said that it was time for dinner in Hazel's house and I knew Thalia would be calling me soon.

But the call I wasn't expecting was the call I got. It was Piper.

I picked up.

"Hey, Pipes," I said, "What are you doing up it's three in the morning there."

"I'm in Malibu, Beth. I came home today."

Shoot. I knew the twenty-seventh had something to do with something.

"Oh I'm sorry I totally forgot we planned for me to pick you up. I'll be there as soon as I can," I said.

I hung up, realizing I had a license, but no way to get to the airport. Cal had a car here so I guess that was my way.

"Hey, Cal, can you take me to the airport?"

"Yeah, you know my parents. No dinner till late," she said.

So Cal took me to the airport and waited outside as I went to go see Piper.

"Beth!" She said, running up to me and wrapping me in a big hug.

"I missed you," I said.

"Me too."

We took her luggage and walked out to Cal's car.

"Did you get a car?" Piper asked.

"No this is my friend, Calypso's car."

"Calypso Nighshade?" She asked, darkly.

"Yeah, why?" I asked.

"Oh, I can't get in a car with Calypso."
