CHAPTER SIXTEEN
THE MEETING

"Do I look presentable?" Cora asked Diana, as she wore her attire in the Blythe house. Diana had come over to the household to help Cora get ready, and it was a great help indeed. "Absolutely perfect." Diana marvelled at the girl, impressed by her attire and poise. "Mr. and Mrs. Rose will absolutely adore you Cor, do not worry for even a second."

"I shall take my leave now Di, thank you for the help." Cora thanked her with a smile.

"Anytime Cor, absolutely anytime." Diana's lips tugged upwards as she pushed Cora out of the room and downstairs. The green-eyed brunette straightened out her pastel dress and hopped in the carriage, Gilbert sitting right next to her.

"Scared?" He questioned, running a hand through his chocolate brown hair.

"Very." Cora breathed out, squeezing her brother's hand as the carriage sped up.

The atmosphere was bustling when the pair finally reached Charlottetown: Cora was terrified. "I'll leave you now, I shall come back in three hour's time." Gilbert explained while dropping her at the Roses' house.

Mr and Mrs Rose greeted Cora with bright smiles, escorting her to the dinner table. "You must be Miss Blythe, Winifred here has told me so much about you." Mrs. Rose gushed as she pulled a chair out for Cora. "Please Mrs. Rose, call me Cora."

Mrs. Rose beamed, "Then you must call me Ada! Winifred will be joining us shortly, although we can converse until that happens."

"Of course Ada." Cora smiled back at the older woman, "And you must be Mr. Rose. It's an absolute delight meeting you."

"If you can call my wife Ada, then you can most certainly call me Nigel." Nigel Rose laughed heartily, Cora joining in. "Winifred was correct, you certainly are a delight!"

"Winifred talks about me?" Cora asked, green eyes lighting up as she flushed with embarrassment.

"All the time. We simply cannot get her to stop." Ada Rose interfered, Cora smiling brightly at the statement. "Mother! What did I tell you about not embarrassing me!" Another sweet voice note joined in on the conversation. Cora's jaw almost dropped when Winifred entered the room: her usually tied up hair was let loose, silky blonde locks trailing till her waist. Winifred was wearing a light yellow dress that fitted her perfectly, a soft smile to go with the outfit.

"Perhaps you would like to paint a picture." Winnie laughed lightly, blue eyes twinkling with mirth. "Perhaps I would." Cora replied, laughing softly.

"Now that we are all here, I do have some questions to ask you, Cora. We are to fund your move to Paris after all." Nigel said.

"Father! She just got here!" Winifred interjected, taking a bite of her food.

"Win, it's alright.. Let the interrogation begin!" Cora laughed lightly, feeling her insides twinge with nervousness.

"What are your intentions in Paris?" Nigel asked.

"To continue and further my studies - I want to be teacher in the near future. I would earn my own pay and then eventually pay you back in a couple of years." Nigel hummed in thought the response, ready to ask his next question.

"And what.."

The question and answer session continued for the entire night, and Cora seemed to pass with flying colours.

"We would be more than happy to fund your trip to Paris Cora." Nigel finally said, Cora breathing out in relief. "Thank you Nigel, Ada. I am forever grateful to you."

"It is our absolutely pleasure Cora." Ada smiled warmly at her. "You're as good as our daughter now."

"That means the absolute world to me, Ada." Cora smiled back.

They conversed for the remaining hour and Cora was soon escorted home, the smile on her face not leaving it once.

She was leaving for Paris with the love of her life in two days.
