As Lucian led her into this secret room the breath left her body, and her heart skipped a beat. The room was a dark crimson red, with hundreds of pictures of her, her sister and her family. She walked around the room just touching the pictures and letting her heart settle.
"So, no one is allowed in here?" She asked almost breathless, her hands shaking as she turned to him.
"Usually no one but me but seeing how you reacted to Samuel showing up unexpectedly, I figured now is the time to show you, in a small way what I feel." He never looked up, he the big and bad vampire stared at the ground nervous about how she was going to react.
"Won't you look at me?" Gabriella questioned him.
Lucian looked up at her, the tears he was holding back threatened to spill over. He stared deep into her eyes and waited for the response he knew was coming.
"Lucian, you are a dear sweet man. Can I ask you a question?"
He nodded without making a noise and waited.
"Why did you leave the council? You were the one man my father could trust, for five hundred years you were a friend of the crown, so I need to know why in the sake of blood did you leave?"
"I will tell you soon, I am not so ready to reveal all of my secrets to you yet, princess."
Gabby nodded in silent agreement. "I do believe that we should go and see how our siblings are doing."
Lucian nodded and stood aside so that she can pass him. She flushed and walked past him, he grabbed her hand as she exited the doorway and closed the door.
"So princess," Michael said grabbing a bottle of blood from the fridge and sliding it to her, "want to tell me what you know about Samuel?"
"I only know what I have been told, which isn't much when you are the sister of the future queen, no one tells me anything, to "protect" me." Abby said with disdain in her voice.
"What if they are trying to protect you but you are too stubborn to listen to them?" Michael asked in a cocky voice.
"Since our father died my sister has become extremely overprotective of me."
"Well little sister seeing as you are all I have left; I would say I am justified." Gabby said walking into the room with Lucian.
Michael bristled at his brother walking into the room and stepped in front of Abby shielding her with his body. Lucian watched his brother with some interest and kind of smirked. He skirted around his brother and turned the radio on that was sitting on the counter. He held his hand out to Abby and smiled. "Princess I would be honored if you would dance with me." Abby and Gabby giggled. As Abby was about to take his hand Michael stepped up and growled at his brother.
"Abby dance with me. Lucian likes to think he is smooth, but he has two left feet and would hurt you, which I would then have to hurt him, and I don't want to hurt him for hurting you."
Abby gave Michael her hand, looking apologetically at Lucian. Michael pulled her in close and swayed slowly with her. Lucian started to dance with Gabby. The wind outside was beginning to speed up. There was a crash from the drawing room, Michael phased and ran to the room wanting to rip into whoever threatened his family.
Lucian ran after him, the girls right on his heels. The drawing room was in shambles and Michael was fighting with a smaller masked figure. They watched as the two fought, the masked figure managed to lay Michael out. A small female laugh came from the figure.
"You know Uncle Michael; I would have figured you would have learned to take down a young girl." She ripped her mask of and both Michael and Lucian gasped.
"Brooklyn, darling how did you know we were here?" Abby asked rushing over to her friend and hugged her.
"Brookie?" Lucian asked befuddled. "Is it really you?"
"Well it ain't your mamma." She laughed.
"We thought you were dead child. What the hell happened? Why are you here? How are you here?" Michael asked incredulous.
"What do you mean you thought she was dead?" Gabby asked confused by their confusion.
"Your father told Lucian that she dead and that she was killed by his pet, Mochom." Michael said.
"Father told you that?" Abby asked
"Yes, he told me that due to my betrayal he had her sentenced to death hoping it would hurt me. He was right it did."
"He moped around for like four years. We both did."
"Well I'm not dead dad I am very much alive and when I saw Samuel hanging around, I tried to do my job."
"I am just glad you didn't get killed because of me."
Lucian looked at his daughter and smiled. He hugged her again and spoke with tears in his eyes. "Well looks like it's time to celebrate."
Brooke walked into the kitchen shedding her mask and coat as she walked. She looked around at the familiarity of the room and smirked. All her drawings that she had done over 300 years ago were still on the massive fridge, their edges fading and the paper tearing. Her eyes grew misty and she turned to look at her father. She slowly walked to him, his face paler than normal even for a vampire, his eyes glistening with the tears he wouldn't let fall, not in front of people at least.
Lucian pulled her into a hug, and she smiled. She finally let the tears fall and hugged him back. She never realized in all those years how much she missed him, she hugged him tighter and kissed his cheek.
"We have a lot to talk about, but first I need some whiskey. Do you still have my Pendleton hidden somewhere?" She quipped and wiped her eyes.
"What deal did you make with the king to live?" Michael asked not letting go the fact that his brother and he had been lied to.
"First whiskey, then story." Her no-nonsense tone left little argument. She walked to the far wall and pushed on one of the stones, a compartment opened, and she grabbed her ancient bottle of whiskey and poured a drink for everyone.
"None for Abby," Gabby said, "she is the youngest and therefore is not allowed to have any." The prissy tone in her voice grated on Brook's already shot nerves.
"She drinks with me all the time your highness and seeing as what I'm about to tell everyone trust me, she is going to need it as are you. So, if you don't mind, everyone take your shot and sit down."
"I am a princess and you cannot talk to me that way........"
"You both are going to hear things about your father that you never wanted to know so please just let it go for now you can reprimand me later."
"Fine, I will allow it just this once."
