The Vampire Princess

Chapter 12

Everyone hugged each other and Lucian invited them all into the living room. Years ago, he locked away his familiars out of his pain. He went down into the basement and unlocked the door. The familiars clamored to bow at his feet praising their masters return.

"We have a houseful again. You have once again been called upon to serve. Do you agree to do as asked by every member in this house including the two little witch children?"

"Yes master." They all said in unison.

All fifty of them followed him into another chamber, where they showered, ate and put on their clothing. They then followed him upstairs and into the living room. Lucian smiled as they walked into the room. He instructed several of them to move Kenneth and the others things into the house. Michael looked at him shocked that he let them out. Brooke squealed yet again as she saw her very first familiar. A young girl named Eliza. Brooke had save Eliza from the same fate that she herself had been saved from.

"Eliza, my darling."

"Mistress, will you allow me to serve you again?" Eliza asked.

"Yes, Eliza, you will once again be my personal familiar. I have missed you my dear friend."

"And I you mistress."

Lucian laughed. Many times, he has thought about killing Eliza simply for the memories that she brought. Yet he could never do it. So, he locked them all away. He and Michael never really had a need for them as it was only the two of them. Brooke looked at her dad and smiled as a brilliant idea came to her.

"Daddy?"

"Yes Brooke?"

"We have so many familiars, why don't we give everyone their own. That way everyone can have one like I have Eliza. She has been a trusted friend of mine and I know how much it always meant to me to have her."

"That's a great idea baby. Why don't you do that. You know them better than I do. You can pair them up with the right personality."

Brooke whistled and all the familiars lined up in order of age, the way she had taught them many years ago. She turned to the others and waited until they were all looking at her. She smiled sweetly and looked at Lucian who nodded his consent.

"We have fifty familiars here. Eliza is my personal familiar. Jack is dads and Toby is Uncle Michael's. So, I thought it would be a great idea to give everyone their own personal familiar. I will start with my two witches Britney and Lisa will you step forward?"

The girls walked to Brooke and smiled. Brooke looked at them a moment and smiled. She went to two familiars, who were twins. She pulled them forward and got on her knees.

"Maisy, Katie, do you swear to do what you are told by your masters?"

"Yes." They said in unison.

"Maisy, you swear to protect and follow Lisa from this day forward, no matter what happens?"

"Yes, Mistress Brooke."

"Good girl. Lisa, do you swear to protect Maisy and treat her with respect and love as you do your cousin?"

"Yes auntie."

Brooke smiled and watched the two interact. They became friends almost instantly. Brooke asked Katie and Britney the same questions and watched them bond. When she turned to the others, they were all watching her with intense interest. None of them had ever seen any vampire treat their familiars with the respect that Brooke demanded hers be respected. To Brooke they were more than just servants, they were lifelong friends that live as long as their masters.
