"You did all of this at twelve years old?" Abby asked.
"Yes, I was the bodyguard for my family. My mind worked faster than theirs. I was able to find solutions and make them work in my favor to keep us safe. Much as I do for you today Abby. I did what I had to do, but my kind heart grated on my uncle's nerves. He didn't understand why I kept bringing strays home. Although in the end he learned not to fight me on it. Right Uncle Mike?" Brooke asked laughing.
"Yes, your strays saved my life a few times. I stopped complaining after that." Mike said.
"Keep telling the story Brookie, I am interested to know everything. Dad never told us how he became king of the vampires. We believed that he was the first, therefore the most powerful." Gabby said.
"Well after work that night we had to prepare for a new vampire ceremony." Brooke said.
Linc walked into the bar and sat down at a table. Brooke and Elizabeth were cleaning up and the boys were moving the crates of beer into the storage. Brooke walked to Linc and smiled at him.
"Get you a beer King Linc?"
"No, a whiskey please."
"Coming right up your majesty."
Brooke walked behind the bar and pulled out a decanter of her favorite whiskey. She poured the man a drink and carried it to him. She began cleaning the tables when a familiar man walked in. George Sibley walked over to Brooke who smiled sweetly at him.
"Mr. Sibley, to what do I owe this honor?" Brooke asked sweetly as she could muster.
"Miss Delorna, I have some terrible news, I thought you should hear it in person and not in a letter."
"Oh?"
"My Mary and her girl Tituba were mauled and eaten by wolves last night. I know you were their friend and I wanted you to know how much they loved you."
"They are dead?" Brooke asked feigning sadness.
George nodded and Brooke began to cry.
"Thank- you Mr. Sibley for telling me. I appreciate it not being in a letter."
"We will be having a ceremony for my Mary in three days. If you would like to come. You have a blessed day."
"And you."
George walked out the door and Brooke put the board over the door and set it in the locks carefully. She turned to see Lucian, Linc and Michael staring at her.
"Yes?" She asked raising her eyebrows.
"You took George Sibley's daughter?" Lucian asked.
"Yes, her and Tituba would have been killed if I left them there. So, I rescued them. Everyone in Salem thinks they are dead, and they are unrecognizable now. No need to worry dad."
Lucian nodded and smiled. He had raised a kind girl who thought of others first. Everyone finished their chores and walked home. Brook sent the boys outside to start a fire and get the cauldron started. Elizabeth and Louisa gathered ingredients for the daylight rings. While Brooke, Lucian, and Michael set up a safe space for Linc to stay while he transitioned. When everything was ready Brooke went down into the cellar and brought up on of the blood slaves. A young girl who wanted nothing more than to die.
The girl happily followed Brooke upstairs and out to the fire pit. Everyone was standing around looking at the cauldron when Brooke and the girl got there.
"Everything ready?" Brooke asked.
"Yes. Linc please step forward." Lucian said.
Linc stepped up and everyone fell to their knees. Lucian nodded to Beth who stood and carried a bowl of lavender oil to Lucian and handed it to him. Luc smiled and poured the oil over Linc's head.
