The Vampire Princess

Chapter 3

Everyone downed their shots and sat down, Brooke poured everyone another shot and smiled a sad smile. "As you all know my father is not really my father, and I am not sure what he has told you how he became my father."

"I have told them nothing, and if you must go this far back may I remind everyone that, at that point I was very lonely and distraught, my wife and baby daughter had been killed mere days before and I lost myself. I was a young vampire of only 200 years, my wife had decided to change after giving birth to our daughter who was half vampire."

"Dad do you want me to tell the story?" Brooke asked the pain and anger in his eyes more than even Michael could bear to look at.

"I would tell it just the same, as when you tell it you forget the most important parts." Lucian smiled sadly at her.

"Lucian my love, please go get some water, your daughter is impatient for her bath day." Amelie yelled down from the loft.

"Yes, my dear. Do you need fresh blood for her?" He asked as he was walking to the door.

"No, my dear she is blood drunk already, it is time for breast milk, she will be just fine until tonight, when we all go hunting."

Lucian smirked and walked out the door to the well. In his 200 years of being alive he had never felt what he felt for Amelie. Yet something would never feel right. His true mate had yet to show herself and while he loved Amelie, he would never feel right until he met her. When he reached the well, he took a deep breath and smiled down into the deep darkness of it, contemplating his life and where his life had led him.

"Kill the unholy, purge them from this earth. They are heathens and they belong in hell. This is a kingdom for the already living. Not for these creatures that have risen from death with a demon inside them." Lucian could hear the chant of the village chief, even from his remote house, 40 miles away. He smirked and decide to go and see if he could grab a villager or two for their dinner tomorrow night. As he walked, he realized that the voices were carrying to him because they were coming up the mountain.

The fear kicked in and he ran as fast as he could back to the house. When he got there what he saw was not something he ever imagined a day in his life. The villager seemed to have figured out that the vampires could hear great distances and used it to gain the advantage on them.

His house along with the garden, barn and livestock were blazing, he listened for the sound of his wife and daughter. He heard nothing but the flames crackling away at his home. He walked among the trees careful not to be seen, he noticed to figures hiding in the treetops and he ran to them. He climbed the nearest tree and saw that his family was hidden away. He signaled to Amelie to jump from tree to tree to escape.

They flew among the treetops for hours getting as far away from the village and their burning home as they could. When Lucian felt it was safe, he dropped from the tree and looked around, signaling to Amelie and Lilah that is was safe to come down.

"We are almost to Markus, he will hide us, we will go on the next ship to America my love where there is no suspicion of Vampires, where my brother lives. There we will be safe."

"Yes, my love we will......"

From out of nowhere a spear pierced Amelie's heart.

"Amelie, no." He gasped and started to run to her.

"No love get Lilah out of here. Get her to safety."

"I love you, I'm sorry babe." He grabbed his daughter and ran as she cried reaching out for her mother.

Lucian looked around and ran into the bushes. He watched as a figure stepped out from where Amelie had turned to dust.

"Look Vampire I know you are here I just killed your mate. I know that your blood lust for me is strong. I am here for you to kill. Come get me." The man stood there waiting. Lucian was sad but he was not going to risk his daughters life to kill this cretin. Lilah looked at her father a mere three years old and smiled.

Half vampire half humans grow faster than full human children. She look and acted much older than she was.

"Daddy, mom was my soul mate not yours I want to be with her. I am going to go kill him and then see my first sunset. You will be fine you will find your love. I love you. But I do not want to live without mommy."

"Lilah if you go out there, he will kill you. I will be alone please do not go."

"You know if I had a choice I would not daddy, but I have no right to my own thoughts anymore, then you will when you find your true mate."

Lilah ran out of the bushes before Lucian could stop her. Then man shocked by what he saw, turned to her and stood there stunned.

"A vampire with a female mate? I never thought I would see the day."

"You killed my mother; it is now your turn to die." Lilah circled the man who was still stunned watched her with weary eyes.

"Vampires cannot breed, what are you?" He questioned his eyes growing wide as she circled him.

"I am neither vampire nor human, I am a mix of both. No more talk hunter, your life is mine to take." Lilah pounced on the man but to her surprise and Lucian's he daggered her in midair. Missing her heart enough that she was still alive.

"I will not kill you, yet. You are going to be my new study."

"Study for what?" She gasped in pain.

"To see if I can get rid of the vampire part of you, make you fully human."

Lucian body boiled, he realized that his daughter was right and that she needed to be with her mother and the best thing he could do now was to give her the choice his wife would never get. He leap from the bushes and tackled the man. He looked to his daughter.

"Do what you must Lilah." He said tears in his eyes his voice gravelly as he jumped off the man and ran off. The man looked to Lilah "I will be back do not move." He spoke and ran after Lucian.

As the two men disappeared into the woods Lilah grabbed the dagger and while apologizing to her father pulled it out and drove it into her heart. Unlike other vampires she did not turn to dust.

Lucian doubled back after losing the man in the wood he hid in the trees and watched the man kick Lilah and scream profanities to the trees.
