Lucian and Michael were stunned, neither of them could speak. Brooke never looked up, she was crying, and she would never show that kind of weakness. Gabby placed a hand over Brooke's and squeezed until she looked up at her.
"Brookie, you never told us that Samuel was your father. Why didn't you tell us?"
"Linc banned me from you. He didn't think he could fully trust me. He thought dad and Michael were traitors and he didn't want me trying to turn you against him."
"Samuel is your father?" Lucian asked.
"Yes, and somehow he convinced Linc and Bella that you were traitors. Linc forgot where his allegiance lied and trusted the wrong man. Eventually, the war Samuel had convinced Linc to start brought about the downfall of his power over the humans. I was turned into an assassin and was sent out for years to kill people that Samuel told Linc were traitors. That is until Abby came along. Linc decided that I would be better suited to be her bodyguard.
That is when I learned the truth about what Linc had planned. It turns out he never really trusted Samuel and asked for my help."
"Your help with what?" Abby asked.
Before Brooke could continue her story, an unknown vampire sauntered into the kitchen and smiled at everyone. Brooke shook her head in exasperation and stood up.
"Everyone this is King Linc," Brooke said, "Although now he and Bella go by Shamus and Lindsey."
No one moved. It felt like the air had been sucked out of the room. Brooke leaned against the counter and waited for everyone to take in the news that Linc and Bella were not dead. Michael stood up and walked to the vampire. He sniffed him and then looked to Lucian.
"It is Linc."
Lucian moved quickly catching the vampire by the throat and pushing him against a wall. When Gabby went to stand up Brooke stopped her.
"He isn't going to kill him. Your father has a lot to answer for and my dad wants answers. Don't intervene. He will be fine."
Gabby nodded and sat back down. Lucian growled at Shamus. Brooke walked to Lucian and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Daddy, give him a chance to explain. Trust me you will understand once he is done, you will get your answers."
Lucian dropped him and growled again.
"Get up Linc, you have a lot of explaining to do. You stole my daughter and you stole my life."
"I know I was stupid, but I believed Samuel for the same reason I wanted to be king forever. He offered me more power and I was blinded."
"So that explains your immediate betrayal of our family? Do you know what happened to the others? They never told us, and I feel guilty for leaving them behind." Michael said.
Shamus stood up and sat down in Brooke's chair. Lucian sat next to Gabby again and possessively wrapped his arm around her shoulders. Brooke jumped on the counter and sat down. She smiled at her dad and Gabby and sighed. Since no one said anything Brooke decided to answer her uncle.
"The others are alive and well. They will be here in an hour along with Bella. I got them out a week after you two left. I called before I came here and told them to come home. Oh, and even though you didn't ask Elizabeth and Louisa are vampires now and they are bringing their great great great great great great many times over great grand kids who are our witches now. Now Linc why don't you continue my story, or should I tell it?"
"No, Brooke I will tell it." Linc said.
Brooke nodded and smiled at her father again. He was having a hell of a day and it was long from over. There was something else she had to do, but that would hold until the story was finished.
"After you left, Samuel became my second. I never allowed him near Brooke, because even though he was my confidant I could smell the evil coming off him in waves. I sent Brooke out on missions to keep her safe and kept his contact with Gabriella to a minimum. I even put in a clause in our agreement that if she found her true mate Samuel would have to step aside. I never realized how power mad he was."
"He isn't power mad. He is a hybrid. He is just crazy." Brooke said.
"What do you mean?" Linc and Lucian asked.
"Seriously?" Brooke asked. "He is werewolf and vampire, a descendant of Vlad and a Werewolf woman. There are only about twenty of them. He has been trying for years to make more with no luck. That is why he is so adamant about having Gabby."
"Okay screw your explanation Linc, Brooke how do you know all of this?" Lucian asked.
"You know I think you guys forget how stealthy I am. I have been spying on the man for years."
"Wait so why does he need me?" Gabby asked.
"Well you are a direct descendant of an ancient tribe, that was made up of many different supernatural kinds. The queen of the Myzanc people, your ancestor, is a goddess, demon, werewolf, and witch. Her line is the only one that can handle any kind of hybrid blood. If Samuel has children with you, they will be hybrids or even tri-breeds. Samuel is determined to take over the humans and make blood farms out of them."
"That is his end goal?" Abby asked.
"No, that is his ultimate goal. His end goal is to kill dad and me. He wants revenge and won't stop until he has it."
"Do you know how to stop him?" Michael asked.
"There are two ways. One we bind his werewolf side, he is much weaker without it, or we have our own hybrid and there are only three people in this room who can become one. Me, Gabby, and Abby."
"What about me?" Linc asked.
"You're not an ancestor of the Myzanc. Bella is and with her mind already fractured that is not going to happen."
"So how do we bind his powers?" Lucian asked.
"We will need a witch with more power than the ones we currently have. Luckily, I know of one. Her daughter will be hard to convince to let us near her though."
"How long have you been researching this?" Michael asked amazed.
"Since Samuel had my true mate locked up in the dungeon. I have been searching for a way to end him and save my mate."
"Can you get us a meeting with the witches daughter?" Michael asked.
"Yes, now dad is there something you have to tell Gabriella?"
"What are you talking about?" Lucian asked nervously.
"Follow your own rules dad. It is the only way we as vampires survive."
Brooke smiled as her father swore. He knew those rules were going to bite him in the ass. Brooke looked way to smug at him. She had been gone for centuries and she was still playing matchmaker and protector for him. Lucian looked at Gabby and sighed.
"Gabby I am your true mate. I realized it when you were eight. I never told you because you were so young and then my heart got broken when I thought I lost Brooke."
"I know." Gabby said laughing.
Brooke laughed and watched her dad as he looked at her. His face was pale, and his mouth was set in a hard line.
"How does she know?"
"I figured out that she was yours when I watched the way you got so protective over her while she was training. When she turned twenty-one, I told her. She said she always felt empty and I explained it was because she was missing a part of herself. She remembered you very fondly. I was waiting for you to tell her but damn dad you take your own sweet time to do things."
"Well thank you Brookie, you have officially become an even bigger pain in the ass than your uncle."
"Yeah, but you still love me."
The doorbell rang and Brooke dematerialized to the door. When she opened it, she squealed loudly. Which sent everyone running from the kitchen. Lucian laughed when he saw Kenneth, Robert, Elizabeth, Louisa, and two small children. He looked for Anthony and when he didn't see him, he looked at Brooke.
Anthony was her true mate and he had been locked away from her. For the immense sadness he felt from Brooke he swore revenge.
