"Do we really have to hear all of this?" Michael asked.
"Yes, I know you were there, but Abby and Gabby were not. Plus, there are things you and dad are not aware happened and you need to know them."
"Michael why do you have to lose your temper at everything?" Lucian asked.
"I only asked a question brother, were there for most of this story and unlike you I don't live in the past."
"Okay, you two shut up so Brooke can tell us the rest of the story." Abby said.
Everyone looked at Brooke as she swigged another shot of whiskey.
"Well we had been living at the castle for nine years and in that time, Gabby had been born and was a pain in my ass."
Brooke was down in the courtyard training the new bodyguards. Over the nine years she had lived in the castle she had become the deadliest of all the bodyguards and she was still human. At least for another week. Her twenty-first birthday was coming, and she was ready to be turned. The princess who had just turned six ran up to Brooke and giggled as she tried to take Brooke's dagger.
"Gabriella, no you cannot play with my dagger. Where are your bodyguards?" Brooke asked.
"Beth and Louisa are lost in the maze."
"Why were they in the maze?"
"I went in there to lose them."
"You have to stop doing that Gabby. They were assigned to you because they are my seconds. Anthony!"
Anthony ran up to Brooke and bowed to Gabby.
"Yes, Brooke?"
"take Gabriella down to the maze and find Beth and Louisa. Then meet me in the throne room with all three."
"On it. Gabby do you want to ride the wolf?" Anthony asked.
"Yes!"
Anthony phased and Brooke lifted Gabby on his back. She then turned back to her cadets and grabbed her sword.
"Now we will pair up. If you disarm your partner, you win. If you win you go on to the next stage. If you lose you will not move forward until you beat this stage on the first try. Good luck." Brooke turned to Kenneth, "You are in charge from here. I have to go deal with Princess Brat."
Kenneth nodded and watched Brooke walk off. He felt bad for the princess, but everyone knew Brooke loved her like a little sister. The only reason she was so hard on her was because her safety came first. Brooke walked into the throne room where Linc, Bella, Michael, Lucian, Beth, Louisa, Anthony and Gabby were waiting for her.
"King Linc, Queen Bella," Brooke said, "We have to come up with a solution to Gabby losing her bodyguards on purpose. She cannot keep doing it. It is dangerous for her."
"Gabriella?" Linc asked his tone betraying his amusement.
"Yes daddy?"
"Why do you keep losing your bodyguards?"
"I want Brooke to be my bodyguard."
"We have been over this baby. She can't be she is our head bodyguard and trainer." Bella said.
"I will be her bodyguard on two conditions." Brooke stated surprising everyone.
"Name them." Linc said.
"One as of tomorrow she begins training with our newest recruits. Who I train in the morning and two when she is in my care, she follows my rules to a T. I will not have a loose cannon undermining my authority."
