It's their last day here, Jessica, Wendy and Joey. They were leaving tonight. Apparently, they asked Mark if they could spend the entire day with me, and here I am. Hanging out with them without Youngjae or Bambam for the first time in days.

"Aera," Jessica tapped my shoulder.
"Yeah?" I looked at her.
"Is this your style?" she held up an oversized black T-shirt with the number 97 printed on it on the front in white font. "It's pretty cute,"

I nodded slowly, holding it.

"Where are they?" I asked, looking around.
"They went out to buy food,"
"They got hungry?"
"Apparently,"

A small smile formed on my face as I walked around the multi shop, taking a bracelet from the container. It was beautiful, all silver with tiny writings on it.

You're my star.

A smile made its way to my face, remembering what BamBam had told me.

"It's a star, so be the star you could and would be,"

I held on it, taking it to the counter and reaching for my wallet to pay for it. Fifteen thousand won. A bit expensive, but it was fine. I liked it a lot.

"What did you buy?" Jessica asked when we got out of the shop.
"A bracelet," I answered, taking it out of the bag and showing it to her. "It's cute, isn't it?"
"Really pretty!" she smiled. "Seriously!"

I smiled back.

We walked for a while longer before somehow meeting up with the others outside an ice cream shop.

"You guys went shopping?" Wendy asked. "Without me?"

Jessica laughed.

"Sorry, Wendy. It was too hard to resist,"

Wendy sighed. Mark and Joey just looked at each other, bored, like 'Girls...'

"You're my star," Mark read aloud, looking at my bracelet that was hanging around my wrist. "Hmm... True enough,"
"What?"
"You're a star," he gave me a smile.

I haven't spent time alone with Mark for a while so I guess it's nice to be with him again.

"Thanks,"

Silence.

"We haven't been talking for a while. You're always with Youngjae. Do you like him?"

So direct, Mark...

"Of course not,"
"Good. I was worried,"
"Why?"
"I might lose you to him,"
"We're not dating,"
"But you promised."
"Still. I promised I'd give you a chance. I never said I was your girlfriend,"

Again, he was quiet.

"Am I right, Tuan?"
"You're right..."
"Okay."

He placed his hand on my shoulder.

"Aera?"
"What?"
"Please stop hanging around Youngjae,"
"No,"

You can't make me do that, Mark.

"Please?"
"No. He's my best friend."
"What am I to you, then?"
"You're my best friend, too, but I just can't stop talking to him, can I? That would be mean,"

He let out a sigh.

"You're too nice, Aera,"
"What?"
"Who will you choose if you had to? Me or Youngjae?"

Just at that moment, the doorbell rang and I ran to get it.

"Oh? Wendy?"
"Hey," she smiled slightly. "Can we talk?"
"Umm... Sure,"

I turned to Mark.

"Mark! Get out!"

I heard him groan.

"What now?" he sighed, coming to me, then he saw her. "Wendy? What are you doing here?"
"I'd like to speak to Aera, Mark. Alone," she emphasized the word alone.

Okay, then.

"Fine. I'll wait outside," he sighed and went out of our dorm, into the corridor.

Then Wendy came in.

"I want you to know something, Aera," she started. "And I have to tell you this now since we might not see each other again."
"What is it?" I raised my eyebrows.
"Please don't hurt Mark. He's already been through a lot, so don't hurt him. I'm saying this because he's my friend. I care about him, and what they say about me being his ex? Don't believe it. We never were a couple. We might have went out but we never became a couple. Mark is someone who never used to care about love back in L.A. He wanted a normal life without hurting even more. That was it, but then he met you. He fell for you, so please I'm asking you. Don't hurt him. He's a precious friend to me and Jessica and all of us. He's been a really great friend. I don't want him to feel hurt again. Not after what happened."

It took me a while to process everything she just told me.

"What exactly happened...?" I asked carefully.
"You're not his first love. I'm not that, either. It was someone else. She left him. Permanently. And that broke him."

I stared at her.

"She... Died?"
"Please don't tell Mark I told you these things. He's never going to forgive me for it. He made us swear never to tell anyone about it."

I nodded slowly.

"I won't. Promise."

I have no intention to talk about it to him or anyone else.

"Thank you," she gave me a slight smile. "But please remember that. Never hurt him. I don't want him to go through that kind of pain again. He loves you. He really does. Almost as much as he loved her. I'd hate to imagine what would happen if you were to hurt him."

And I couldn't say anything more to that. That was when she left and Mark came back in. I don't think I can look at him the same way again, finally knowing what he'd been through.
