"Cam!"

Camden looks up from reading his script at the sound of Chris calling him from the guest room where the older man was on a video call with his family last time Camden checked in on him. Placing the script aside for the time being, Camden gets up from his place on the couch to make his way to the guest room, nudging the door open enough to peak his head through.

"Yeah?" He asks, glancing at Chris' open laptop and spotting the ongoing video call. Chris is using his airpods, although he's taken one out to talk to Camden, so the younger male can't actually hear anything that is being said even though he can clearly see that at least one person onscreen is talking.

"I'm on mute so they can't hear me." Chris answers the silent question he can, apparently, see Camden pondering.

"Oh," Camden nods in understanding. "So... what did you need?"

Chris holds out his phone in response, the screen lit up and open on what looks like a conversation in Chris' Instagram DMs between himself and somebody else. Moving closer, although he's careful to stay out of sight of Chris' video call, Camden manages to read the username of the other person in the conversation and, therefore, deduce their identity - Alexis. "I figured I'd let you know considering she's talking about you, and the fact it's your ex girlfriend that's messaging me."

Reading the short exchange messages onscreen, Camden sighs to himself before sending Chris a wry smile. "Yeah, no, it's fine. Thanks for letting me know and all, but you can just delete it if you want."

Chris pauses, seemingly checking if Camden is sure about that decision before going through with the younger man's wishes and deleting the message thread. "Okay, if that's what you want."

"I'm already well aware that she wants to talk to me, just didn't think she'd go as far as messaging my friends about it." Camden shrugs, before changing the subject before Chris can comment on what he's said. "So, was that everything? I don't want to keep you away from your call with your family for too long."

"Oh, yeah, that was all I called you for." Chris waves the phone in reference before putting it down on the bed next to him. "I told them I was going on mute to ask you something so you're not disturbing anything, they seem to be managing pretty well without me right now."

Camden laughs before letting Chris know that he's going to go back to reading over his script in the other room and leaving Chris to get back to his call, leaving the door ajar on the way out since that's how it was when he came in.

-

He's so engrossed by the script he's been going over fervently most of the afternoon that it takes him a second to even register the other presence joining him on the couch. Although he now realizes he's not alone, he doesn't stop reading just yet.

He knows Chris is watching him, can feel his gaze sweeping across him, but he doesn't feel inclined to call the other man out on it; not yet, at least. He finally lifts his gaze from the page in front of him when he feels Chris' foot nudges his thigh to get his attention.

"I thought you said you two ended on semi-good terms."

Now, Camden could play dumb and pretend he doesn't know who Chris is referring to, but since Alexis is the last person they shared anything close to a conversation about in the last 24-hours - outside of Chris name-dropping his siblings names while talking about his upcoming call over breakfast that morning - it can only be in reference to her.

"Did I say that?"

He knows that question catches Chris out. They never really have talked about his last relationship other than the fact it ended while himself and Chris were building up a friendship and that a gossip article was written about it.
