Camden smiles, waving, when he sees Chris walking towards where he's perched on the fence of the horse paddock for a ranch scene, spotting Dodger padding along happily beside his owner. The director had given him permission to bring Chris to set today, with the condition that Dodger had to come too since the guy's a dog lover and insisted on meeting the dog as soon as he heard about him.
"You okay?" He calls out.
Chris nods, motioning with his head to Dodger. "Yeah, just got delayed with your coffee because somebody insisted on greeting your brother's dog since he brought her to set today too."
"Oh, I didn't know Dylan was here today - thanks for the coffee, by the way." Camden smiles as he takes his drink from Chris, sipping it carefully to check the temperature of the liquid inside.
"You're welcome - it should be just like the ones you usually get when we're out, if I remembered the order correctly."
"Yeah, it's perfect, thanks." Camden nods in reassurance, wrapping his hands around the styrofoam cup and glancing around before focusing his attention back on Chris as the older man moves to lean against the fence next to him, Dodger settling down next to his owner's feet. "I did tell you that coming to work with me wouldn't be that exciting."
"No, I know. I’m not all that bothered by waiting on the sidelines while you work or sitting around doing nothing while you're not filming. I'm used to it, remember?"
Camden lets out an amused huff as he sips his drink. "I remember, just figured this would be the last place you'd want to hangout when you're not working. I know I wouldn’t want to hang around a film or TV set during my free time."
"Guess I just look at it slightly different to you."
"How so?" Camden frowns, intrigued as to where Chris is going with that point.
Chris shrugs, turning his face away but Camden can tell he's blushing since his ears have reddened slightly too.
"Come on, I promise I'm not teasing you. I'm genuinely curious here."
"I don't mind spending time on film or TV sets that I'm not part of if I'm there for the company of a particular person. You know, being there to spend time with them even if it means sitting behind the scenes for periods of time while they're busy focusing on work."
"Aww, that's kinda sweet," Camden smiles. "Well, aren't you just a total sweetheart at heart."
"Thought you said you weren't teasing me?" Chris nudges him, making Camden laugh.
"I'm not - just stating a fact."
"Oh, sure." Chris rolls his eyes, not believing him for even a second.
It's quiet between them for a bit with Camden calmly drinking his coffee while keeping an ear out in case someone needs him for something, whereas Chris is quietly observing the comings and goings of the crew and animal handlers working with the horses they're going to be using for the upcoming scene. Dodger's lead is gripped loosely in Chris' hand but the dog isn't making any move to go and investigate the other animals. Eventually, Camden breaks the silence, though, and speaks up again.
"So... umm... Ty asked me something the other day and I didn't really know what to tell him."
"Oh yeah?" Chris turns his full attention back to Camden. "What was it about?"
"You."
"Oh...?" Chris frowns, clearly having no idea where this conversation could even be going at this point.
"Yeah. Nothing bad or awkward, just how long you're staying and all that."
"Oh." Chris' expression instantly melts into realisation. "What did you tell him?"
"That I didn't know. Well, that and that you had something coming up soon so you probably wouldn't be sticking around for that much longer - not that it's any of his business, anyway."
Although Camden says the last bit under his breath, Chris obviously hears it as he lets out an amused laugh. "While you're technically right, he's probably just on edge considering how it ended last time you got close to someone he didn't know that well"
"I know." Camden sighs. "Still kinda frustrating that he's protective over me, though, considering I'm the older sibling here."
"I never said it wasn't." Chris points out before changing the subject back to what it was originally. "I probably have a week left here, if that."
"Oh." Camden’s eyebrows raise in surprise. "That soon, huh?"
Chris shrugs, glancing down at Dodger to avoid looking at Camden. "I wasn't originally planning to stay as long as I have, but I liked hanging out with you and meeting your friends so I pushed my return back again and again. Now... well, now I'm probably going to be cutting it pretty close, but it was worth it."
Camden stays quiet, processing the information as he slowly nods. "As long as you don't feel like you were forced to stay because I've been too clingy or -"
"No, definitely not. I'm completely to blame if I mess up the scheduling since it was 100% my decision to stay as long as I have."
"Okay." Camden nods with a tight smile, before downing what's left of his drink and sliding off of the top rung of the fence to stand next to Chris. "Sounds like we've gotta make the most of the time you've got left in Santa Fe - so, what haven't you gotten around to doing here yet?"
Chris hums in thought and Camden smiles when he sees the other man's gaze briefly pause on the horses. Chris meets his gaze with a shrug and relaxed smile. "I can think of a couple things."
"Well, for the next couple minutes, my attention is all yours. So, let's hear these ideas of yours."
