(Sonic's POV)
Metal and I returned to the house and I was feeling hungry. I hadn't eaten all day today and dusk was already around the corner. I walked inside the kitchen, grabbed a pot, turned the water on in the kitchen sink before putting the pot underneath it to let it fill up with water. My mind started to wander off to what happened between me and Metal in the meadow today. It was sort of weird how Metal went from being grumpy to messing around, then again him messing around is better than being grumpy. But what bugged me more was that right before we left, I couldn't calm down my heartbeat and still can't. It's not beating as fast as it was earlier, but I still don't know what even happened. It was probably just happiness that Metal was starting to lighten up.
"Sonic." A voice said.
I snapped out of my thoughts and glanced at Metal, confused about what he wanted.
"Yeah?" I asked him.
"Your pot is overflowing." Metal said, pointing at the said object.
I looked back down at the pot to see the water was flooding down the sides of it and I quickly turned the faucet off, poured out some of the water before I placed the pot on the stove, and turned the stove on.
"What are you making anyway?" Metal asked me curiously.
"Chili dogs," I answered him.
"Of course..." Metal sighed, rolling his eyes a little. "What is your obsession with them?" He questioned.
"They're good, you can try one if you'd like," I replied. "Besides, you haven't eaten anything period, so having one's a good start," I said to Metal.
"I only hope that you won't mess them up judging by how distant you are." Metal replied, putting on his serious face.
"I've made these things a lot, I know what I'm doing," I replied to Metal.
Metal just glanced away from me before he walked inside the living room and sat down on the couch. I shrugged my shoulders and continued making my chili dogs.
"Then I suppose you can explain why one's heart rate would increase." Metal said to me.
"There are multiple meanings, all emotions we feel comes from the heart," I replied, continuing to make the chili dogs.
"So it's like our power source?" Metal asked, sounding a bit confused.
"Something like that, all Mobians, humans, and animals wouldn't be alive without them." I clarified. "And since you're now a Mobian, you've been granted having emotions too," I said to him.
"Then what does it mean if your heart would beat fast when around someone else at close quarters?" Metal asked me.
At that, I couldn't find myself saying anything. What was Metal talking about? Close quarters? I tried to think about it, there was one reason that would happen, it was usually when someone has a crush on another person.
"Guess it means that you'd have a crush on someone," I said to Metal.
"What?" Metal asked me.
"Let's just say it's..." I hesitated, trying to find the right words that would satisfy Metal's curiosity. "An emotion, a strong one at that," I said, internally hitting myself once the words came out of my mouth.
"You don't even know, do you." Metal said.
"I've never really experienced it before," I replied with a shrug of my shoulders.
"What about Sally?" Metal asked me.
I stayed silent and thought about it. I don't even see Sally anymore due to her falling head over heels for someone else.
