(Sonic's POV)
I floated up in the air in my super form, facing Metal, who was still in his Neo form despite I defeated him in his Metal Madness form. Metal glared at me with a look of anger in his red eyes, his black cape was slightly torn and he had a few dent marks on him. I remained where I was, ready to take him down for probably the thousandth time.
"Give it up Metal, you'll only go down like you always do," I said to him.
"That is false!" Metal replied.
"Is it now?" I asked, crossing my arms while grinning at Metal. "You'll deny the other times I've kicked your metal butt?" I said to him smugly.
Metal only expressed a sound similar to robotic growling and charged at me. I zipped past him in the blink of an eye, both me and Metal immediately flying around fast just like how most of our battles would escalate. But this time was going to be different, this time I had a plan to show Metal that he can't defeat me. I dodged a swipe from Metal's steel claws and spin dashed him, only to grunt when he wasted no time to punch my jaw. I floated away a little, rubbing my jaw while feeling irritated at Metal, and glared at him, having about enough of this. I lifted my hand, forming a blue ball of my chaos powers that grew almost as big as the Master Emerald itself before firing it at Metal, a bright light surrounding him almost instantly. I was expecting Metal to be destroyed into nothing, but my expectations were wrong. I could see Metal's outline of him turning from his Neo form into what looked like his original form. But once he was transformed, I could hear loud groaning that sounded like my own voice, only it was a little more in a mature-like tone to it. That was when I realized he wasn't a robot anymore. I dismissed my powers, the bright light disappearing while I could see Metal falling instantly. On instinct, I swooped down towards Metal, grabbing a hold of his wrist just before he could hit the ground and I floated in place, my heart pounding at what a close call that was. I gently lied Metal down on his back and glanced at him, seeing that instead of being a robot, he was now a Mobian hedgehog with a few cuts on his body as blood was leaking from them. This was confusing, how did I just turn Metal organic? Was it even me, or did the Chaos Emeralds decide to change Metal instead of destroying him? Whatever the reason was, I couldn't help but feel bad about the wounds I inflicted on him as my ears drooped down. I turned myself back to normal to the point my fur and quills were navy blue again and my eyes once again green before I put my head on Metal's chest, using my ear that was pressed on his slightly darker peach skin to listen for a heartbeat. I could hear Metal's heart thumping and let out a small sigh of relief. Metal may be my enemy, but right now he's a living being and I certainly wasn't going to take his life today.
"Sonic!" A voice called.
I turned around and quickly stood up, seeing Tails and Knuckles approaching me with concerned looks on their faces.
"What in Mobius happened?" Knuckles asked me.
"That's kind of what I'm trying to figure out," I replied and glanced back at Metal.
"Is that supposed to be Metal?" Tails asked, sounding a bit shocked.
"Yeah," I answered him.
"Hold up, how is Metal now a Mobian?" Knuckles questioned me in confusion.
"I don't know, when I used my chaos powers on him, he just sort of turned organic," I replied.
"And you saved him?" Knuckles asked, crossing his arms like he wasn't impressed.
I stayed silent, unable to say anything let alone look at him. I don't know why I saved Metal either. What I wanted to know, was why the Chaos Emeralds would choose to change Metal into a Mobian.
