(Metal Sonic's POV)

The next morning came and both me and Sonic were on our way to the meadow I had chased him to. Today Sonic was going to help me better control my speed. I already know about running at the speed of sound like he does, but he was gonna teach me other things like spin dashing, jumping around with ease if I'm ever going to be in some obstacle course. And lastly, run up and down a cliff, building, and wall in case I ever need to. Though much to my dismay, we had to start at dawn. But on the other hand, my wounds had fully turned into scars and I no longer needed those itchy bandages anymore.

"What are we gonna start on again?" I asked Sonic.

"Well for one, we're gonna work on you making sharp turns when running around in a forest, you won't always be in a city or an opened meadow like this," Sonic replied.

"So the lesson is to avoid touching them." I guessed.

"Yes," Sonic replied. "Just imagine that the trees are something you want to avoid or someone like Mr. Knucklehead." He said to me.

"I'd mostly avoid being around Amy if anything," I replied to him.

"Whatever helps you Mets." Sonic chuckled.

I rolled my eyes at him before taking off, running straight ahead towards the tree line on the other side of the meadow. Once I was close to the tree line, I spotted a tree heading towards me and swerved to the side, avoiding it. I continued avoiding a few more until before I knew it, I ended up crashing into one and fell on my back. I groaned as pain seared through me and sat up, rubbing my head to ease the aching I received from hitting the tree.

"You okay?" Sonic asked as he suddenly halted by me.

"I would be if I didn't mess up," I mumbled, irritation coursing through me.

"There's always a first time for everything, it took me a couple of tries the first time too," Sonic replied, extending his hand to me.

I reluctantly took his hand and he hauled me on my feet, giving me a small smile like he didn't care about my failed attempt.

"How far did I get?" I questioned him curiously.

"Two miles," Sonic answered me.

I sighed in response, stress beginning to overwhelm me. This was going to be a long day.

~Time skip~

I groaned while running into another tree for the twentieth time and held my head that was aching like crazy. I had been training all day and the moon was now out. To make it worse, with how dark it was, I couldn't see very well due to the moon being in the shape of a crescent. I put my hand down and glanced at it, seeing that this time there was blood on it. I felt my ears pin on my head before I sat down, not caring about how cold the ground was.

"Metal?"

I glanced over to see Sonic approaching me with a concerned look on his face. I glanced away from him and moved my knees up to my chest, feeling frustrated that I couldn't complete today's training.

"You'll get it eventually, it just takes practice," Sonic said to me.

"Like I didn't hear that two hundred times already," I grumbled.

"It just takes time to complete things like this, no one can expect to get it right on the first day," Sonic replied.

"Or I have an idiot for a teacher." I retorted.

"You never gave up on trying to kill me back when you were still a robot, why is learning to control your speed weighing you down?" Sonic asked.

"How I controlled my speed was different, I had better control over myself than I do as a Mobian, which is something you'll never understand due to you having no remorse for what you break," I replied firmly.
