Melanie's spent the past three days back mostly in the guest room. I barely saw her except for dinner and I fear she's avoiding me. She told me she's trying, but I know she's also scared that she might disappoint me. I've seen Melanie give Miranda the same kind of treatment a couple times before. Usually when she had something important for school. Yeah, I'd admit I'm hurt she doesn't remember me, but I think I hate the fact she feels she has to avoid me because of it more.

I sit up in my bed and look at the empty spot next to me. My nights rest just are not the same without Melanie's arms and legs tangled up in mine. I even miss how she hogs all the covers. Getting out of bed, I head straight to the bathroom to pee and then take me a hot shower. I'm going back to work today, and have extended my lesson free of charge this week for my clients since I was out so long. Then, I'm going to check in at the daycare center.

The hot water hits my chest as I stand there in a moment lost in thought. I wonder if Melanie will be alright when I'm gone. I showed her everything she needs to know, but still can't help but to worry. Taking my wash cloth, I soak it under the water then apply the body wash. I scrub every inch of my body throughly and then my hair before getting out the shower. I pat dry my hair, jumping when I hear a crash from the kitchen. Quickly, I grab my towel wrapping around my waist to check it out.

"Fuck..." Melanie groans as she starts to pick up pieces of a broken plate. Her body is swallowed up by my white Fleetwood Mac band-tee. I thought I lost that shirt, but she's had it the entire time.

"Hey, you alright?" I ask her and she looks up at me staring for a moment before averting her eyes.

"Um...yeah. Just have butter fingers is all," she weakly chuckles. I come over to help but she stops me.

"Oh no, stay over there I don't want you to cut yourself, plus you should probably finished getting ready," she rushes. Then I just realized I'm in a towel and she probably feels awkward since she doesn't remember seeing me like this before.

"Alright, you sure."

"Ah hun," Melanie nods biting her bottom lip which she mostly does when she nervous. I nod and go back to the bathroom, I wanted to ask her more questions, but I'll do it after I'm dressed so she comfortable around me. I blow dry my hair and brush it back before going into my bedroom to change. I grab a black and white vertical striped button up shirt and deep brown almost black sweater vest with blue and white horizontal stripes. I slip on my beige trousers tucking my shirts under the waist band. Adjusting the collar, I let it show through the vest and smile at how comfortable I am. Putting on my black shoes, I waltz back into the kitchen humming to the delicious smell.

The table is filled with fruits, waffles, pancakes, bacon and two omelettes. So this is why she was in the kitchen, Melanie wanted to make us breakfast. I smile seeing her as her back is turned to me as she pours her coffee putting cream and sugar in hers. She turns around and grins seeing me, "how do you like your coffee?" She asks taking a sip of hers. Melanie dresses nicely in a peach colored dress that looks heavenly on her. I clear my throat trying not to focus on her exposed cleavage.

"Uh black is fine." Melanie pours the hot coffee in a mug and hands it to me as I sit down at the table.

"I didn't know what you liked, so I just try to make everything I knew I could make," she says seating across me.

"Oh no this is all amazing," I said putting an omelette, some waffles, and fruit on my plate. Melanie fills her plate too before we eat in silence. Melanie takes her phone out to text someone, either Miranda or Kelly I assume. She cracks a grin looking at her screen as her curls fall nicely on her shoulders. Her face looks fresh and moisturized and clear of make up. I don't think she's wore any since she came back, I wonder if it's because she use to hate wearing it when she was younger. Melanie's hand rubs the back of her neck as she leans forward on the table pushing her chest out, parts of her lace bra poke out and my face heats up. My mouth starts to get dry as I reach for my cup. I try to focus my attention to the shiny silver bracelet around her wrist. It has five diamonds one of which is aquamarine—Melanie's birthstone. On the inside of the silver lining its engraved I love you, I got it for her on Valentine's Day a couple years ago. I can't believe she kept it, and I wonder why I haven't seen her wear it before.
