Chapter 28

Scrolling through my laptop, I search up tickets to Bali. I want to surprise Melanie with it, for a late Christmas present. We'll be spending the New Years together in a beautiful and remote location. It won't be for another couple months but if I get everything planned now it I won't have to worry about something going wrong later.

Melanie flops on my bed like a child making the bed temporarily shake. She flips her head up blowing a raspberry. Resting the side of her face in the palm of her hand she begins to pout.

"Babe, I'm bored," she sighs rolling on her back. I told her I was going to check some emails from work so she wouldn't try to see what I was actually doing.

"I'm almost done, baby. Play with Ollie," I say getting ready to purchase the tickets.

"I did and walked him. He's about to go to sleep now."

"Then um, call your parents, sisters, or Kelly. I'm really busy right now," I say hoping she'll leave me to finish this. I don't want to ruin the surprise for her.

"Fine," she huffs and leaves the room.

For the past two months Melanie has been staying here more than her actual place. She told me her dad's living with them now and that her parents don't waste a second to rekindle their love when everyone else is gone. Unfortunately she always comes home at the worst times. To avoid that she just stays here and goes back every couple of days to check in most on Kira.

I want to ask her to officially move in with me but I don't know if that's going to fast. It's only been two months since we've gotten back together. Plus, I'm thinking of moving somewhere bigger than this flat. Possibly a house, but it get rather lonely. So, I'll wait down the line until it's the right time to ask.

After purchasing the tickets and making a reservation, I close my laptop and get out of bed. I go into the living room and see Melanie FaceTiming Kelly while Nate sits in the background talking once in awhile. They're discussing about what Kelly should name the baby.

"How about Fiona," Kelly says reading names from a book.

"It's cute, but I can't help but to think of Fiona from Shrek," Melanie comments and I let out a snort by mistake. She turns around and sees me leaning against the wall way.

"How long where you standing there?"

"A couple minutes." She nods turning her attention to Kelly.

"Alright I gotta go Kelz," Melanie tells her.

"I get it so you two can fuck," Kelly crudely replies.

"Hey, that's none of your business," Melanie gives a goofy smile.

"True, but use protect or you'll end up big as me," Kelly points to her pregnant belly.

"Alright, will do mom. I love you."

"I love you too," Melanie giggles shaking her head before ending the call. She pats a spot on the couch and I join her. Melanie moves so she can straddle my lap and wraps her arms around my neck.

"So I have you all to myself now?" She asks.

"Yep, you get all my attention now, baby."

"Yay!" She childishly cheers.

"So, what do you want to do?"

"I have a couple ideas," she smirks.

"I'm listening," I grin.
