Chapter 10; Jay

The wind was rustling my hair into my face, making my frown more prominent. Flashes were going threw my mind. Would she really die? Is she even scared? Does she even care that she's leaving me, shattering my world?

Anger pulsed threw my veins. How could she leave me? How can she even be okay with it? I kicked dirt into the air and pulled at my hair. I wanted to scream in frustration but held it in so Kamren wouldn't come outside. I had to make things easy on her. I know she says she isn't hurting, but she does this thing when she lies. She keeps cracking her knuckles, even though she already cracked them a bunch of times, and she starts biting on her lip, but she also does that when she nervous. How did I know this about her already? I don't even know.

I heard the sound of glass shattering, and ran inside the house, almost tripping on the stairs as I did. Kamren was on the floor, tears running down her face as she attempted to pick up some broken glass. The tip of her nose was red from crying, as were her cheeks.

"Kamren, sweetie, let me pick up the glass." I tried the gentle approach, and pulled the glass pieces out of her hand. Her hand was already bleeding in three places. "You have to be careful." I scolded her in a gentle tone. She responded to that by, not yelling at me like I thought she would, but by nodding her head and staring at the floor. I didn't even notice Alayna before, but I did now.

Her arms were crossed over chest and she had her chin in the air defiantly-obviously angry. I took my eyes off her and brought them back down to Kamren who suddenly looked so exhausted that she could barely move.

"Layne..." Kamren started but trialed off as she noticed Alayna ignoring her. Then she looked at me, chocolate brown eyes that looked so beautiful I could barely breathe. "Jay?"

"Yeah?" I choked out, the proximity of us suddenly affecting me. A blush crept up my cheeks, and I looked down, finally able to look away from her eyes.

"Can we go home? She'll understand sooner or later, she just needs...time, I guess." Kamren gave one last look in the direction that Alayna disappeared, and just leaned on me, as if waiting for me to carry her. So that's what I did. I scooped her up in my arms, and carried her threw the thresh hold of Alayna's house like a bride. Of course, she will never be my bride. And I will never get to carry her over the thresh hold of our new house. So I guess this is all that I will get.

"Kamren?" I whispered loudly, staring at her sleeping face. She had been sleeping for atleast six hours and I was getting worried. "Kamren?" I asked louder, moving hair away from her face. She stirred then, but only moved closer to me and gave a content sigh.  I stared at her face for a few more minutes and opened my mouth to bother her until I heard a soft cough from the doorway. My eyes flashed up quickly, darkening to black as I thought of the unknown presence.

"Stop that and come into the kitchen." The female scolded me, and she left the room before I could look at her face. I eyed the doorway warily and then looked back down at my mate. Her breathing was slow and steady, so I decided it would be okay to leave her there for five minutes. I slowly got up, and manouvered myself off the bed quielty.

"So i'm guessing that you're her mate." The woman spoke, her back to me as she sat at the kitchen table. "I'm her sister."

"I'm Jay Matthews." I told her, fixing my shirt and hair to look presentable. I walked around the kitchen so I could meet with my mate's sister to her face and stuck my hand out. "It's nice to meet you."

"Likewise." She said, shaking my hand and surprising the crap out of me. She was almost identical to the sleeping beauty that lay down her room down the hall. There were small differences that I could see, like how Kamren's eyes were just a shade darker than her sisters, and her sister had a pointier nose. "I'm Audrey."
