Chapter 8; Kamren

Of course as soon as Alayna left the room and headed upstairs, I got up from the chair. She was probably trying to make me feel better by making that guy apologize to me, or get on his knees and beg for forgiveness. Maybe she would hit him. I giggled at the thought and went back into the kitchen to get another drink. I could barely feel anything at this point, but why not keep going?

My earlier drinking buddy had told me he would be back later, after he got laid. Of course, after witnessing that with my mate upstairs, I got pissed and shoved my drink in his face. That only concluded my thoughts that all guys are the same.

“Kamren, I told you to stay in that chair!” Alayna grabbed my elbow and was leading me towards the door.

“No. Please. I don’t want to see him.” Thump. Thump. My heart thumped painfully in my chest at the though of seeing him.

“You don’t have to see him, were going back to his house, and you can avoid him the whole time.” Danny added in, suddenly coming out of no where.

“I want to talk to Audrey.” I told him, holding onto the arm he held out to stop me from falling over.

“Your sister?” He asked, looking at Alayna.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Kammie.” She said, grabbing my other hand, and leading me into the grass. I almost shoved them off, telling them that I didn’t need an escort. Instead, I just let them stay there. Until I saw Jay standing there, looking at us patiently. Then, I shoved them off and made a move to run back in the house.

“Traitor! You said I wouldn’t have to see him.” I pointed my finger accusingly at Danny, and poked his nose as if punishment. Then I giggled and went back in the house.

I could hear them talking behind me but I didn’t listen.

Someone grabbed my upper arm, and turned me around, pulling me back outside. Of course it was Jay. I started hitting him, much to Danny’s amusement, because I could hear him chuckling quietly from his spot next to Alayna.

“Daniel, maybe we should…” I could hear Alayna but she trailed off.

“Layney, They need to work it out themselves. In fact…” He trailed off too and came over to where I was struggling against Jay as he tried shoving me into a limo. “Jay, we’ll meet you at your pack house, okay?”

“Sure.” Jay responded, his hands stopping for a moment while he answered Danny.

“Who called a limo?” I asked, suddenly stopping as I realized what I was being shoved into.

“I did.” Jay answered, but I pretended not to hear him as I quickly escaped from his arms and tried to rush away. It didn’t work because I lost my footing and fell into the grass. Alayna was laughing as if it was the funniest thing she had ever seen and Danny was looking at Alayna as if she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. I was working on getting off of my face when I was picked up and thrown over someone’s shoulder.

“No! Put me down!” I cried, punching his back with my little strength. Jay sighed.

“I can’t believe your resorting to drinking. Are you a drunk?” He asked, setting me down in front of the limo once more.

I started crying. He flinched back, startled. His eyes were wide, their grey-ness reminding me of the sky when a storm is coming.

“I’m sorry. Hey, hey! Shh.” He shushed me,  soothing down my hair as if I was child. His thumbs ran across my cheeks in a surprisingly sweet gesture and for a minute I stopped crying as my heart jumped again. Thump.
