The Fellowship stood perched on a platform within the many trees around them, the Elves standing around them but no longer threatening them with the area shrouded in a sapphire hue from the night.

"Mae govannen, Legolas Thranduilion, [Welcome Legolas, son of Thranduil,]" Haldir officially greeted the only Elf in the group.

"Govannas vîn gwennen le, Haldir o Lórien, [Our Fellowship stands in your debt, Haldir of Lórien,]" Legolas responded with his own greeting.

"A Aragorn in Dúnedain, istannen le ammen. [And Aragorn of the Dúnedain, you are known to us.]"

"Haldir," was his short and simple reciprocated greeting, a small smile on his face.

"Gwannas lû and, Athena Arathorniel, [It has been too long Athena, daughter of Arathorn,]" he turned to address Athena after the others.

"Glass nínd achened, Haldir, [It is my joy to see you again, Haldir,]" she responded before sighing a little at Gimli's interruption.

"So much for the legendary courtesy of the Elves! Speak words we can all understand!"

"We have not had dealings with the Dwarves since the Dark Days," Haldir spoke up without bothering to hide his disdain for the entirety of the race.

"And do you know what this Dwarf says to that? Ishkhaqwi ai durugnul! [I spit upon your grave!]"

"Gimli!" Athena immediately hissed at the insult he had spoken.

"That was not so courteous," Aragorn sternly added.

Haldir did not respond, only sending the Dwarf a look of contempt before his gaze shifted over to Frodo. "You bring great evil with you," he stated before addressing the rest of the Fellowship, "you can go no further."

"We did not come all this way only to be told that we cannot continue. We need rest and food, we will find no shelter elsewhere unless we wish to meet Orcs along the way," Athena tried to reason with him in desperation of getting everybody somewhere safe for the time being.

Aragorn rested a hand on Haldir's shoulder before gently guiding him away from the prying eyes of the Fellowship, hoping that they'd be able to come to a conclusion in a more private setting. She followed after them and stood in a huddle with the two of them, the others milling about and mainly sitting down to rest their weary legs while trying to ignore the quiet debate that was happening a few feet from them.

"Boe ammen veriad lîn. Andelu i ven, [We need your protection. The road is fell,]" Aragorn attempted to gain entry again, speaking Elvish to give them further privacy.

"Man naha cin garammen ceri? [What would you have us do?]" Haldir responded.

"Merin le telim. [I wish we may come with you.]"

"I na únadren. [That is not possible.]"

"Henio, aníron boe ammen i dulu lîn! [Please, understand we need your support!]"

"Mín ceriú sinnen cín companui a cin carrui a Norn di cin. [We do not know your company and you carry a Dwarf with you.]"

"Andelu i ven. [The road is very dangerous.]"

Aragorn continued to try and reason with Haldir but so far his advances had not been successful, so Athena found herself butting in in another attempt to try and gain them entry to Lothlórien.

"Mín ceriúcin na estel hain, ach im cericin na estel ammen, [We do not ask you to trust them, but I do ask you to trust us,]" she spoke up, trying to get him to trust their trust in those around them.
