Sunlight streamed through the linen curtains hanging above your bed, rousing you from your slumber, the faint sounds of car horns and people chattering away on the sidewalks nipped at your ears as you finally came around to the world of the living.

As you stretched, attempting to wake up your tired, aching muscles, you reached out to the opposite side of the bed, your fingers grasping at any sign of life, but coming up empty. The sheets were cold, all body heat that Kylo had put off had since faded away. You frowned, hoping to see your pillow draped in his dark waves and hear his voice, thick and gravelly with sleep.

It took all you had to find the motivation to peel your limbs from beneath your comforter, goosebumps raising along your skin as the cold air from your apartment wrapped around your naked body. Shoving your arms into your fluffy bathrobe, you quickly tied it around you, hoping to find the same warmth in it that you had found when you were cradled in Kylo's arms.

Pouring your coffee grounds into your coffee pot, you heard your phone chime, your heart instantly being sent into a frenzy in hopes of it being Kylo. Racing to the couch, where you had deposited most of your belongings in your drunken, sex-crazed state last night, a wave of disappointment crashed down over you.

Brother Dearest: Got some business to attend to. Should be back in a few days. Stay safe, little sister. Love you.

You dropped your cell phone back onto the couch, not finding any need to respond right away as you went back to focusing on brewing your coffee. Biting on the skin around your thumb, you couldn't help the lingering thoughts of Kylo, your undeniable chemistry, and the confusion you felt about him leaving your bed to go on business without so much as a goodbye.

Memories of your night together played on repeat in your mind; the feeling of his lips on your throat, the grunts that erupted from his chest as he reached his ultimate high, the way your walls clenched around him, almost as if you were made to please each other. Heat bloomed across your cheeks and between your thighs as you remembered how Kylo had fucked you, choosing to push the boundaries of bliss with you. You shook your head, trying to pull yourself out of your thoughts.

As you sipped on your coffee and flipped on some random television channel, you still couldn't shake the gnawing feeling of guilt about Kylo's silence. Maybe you had been wrong about the connection you thought you shared, reading too much into the situation, as you were prone to do. Finishing your coffee, you quickly washed your mug and shrugged off your bathrobe, deciding that a long, hot shower was exactly what you needed.

                                                                                                ...

Much to your dismay, your last day off had been wasted pining over a man who didn't even have the decency to at least text you after fucking you, every inch of your mind occupied by that giant, dumb and utterly gorgeous man. After skimming through some recently published medical journals, your eyelids growing heavier and heavier the longer you continued, you were woken up from your dozing by your cell phone vibrating beside you. Figuring it was Vic calling to check in on you, you picked it up blindly.

"Let me guess, Vic, you need bail money already?" you asked, closing your laptop and padding off to your bedroom, attempting to get settled in for the night.

"Well, hello to you too, Angel..." Kylo's voice was warm and rich, a hint of a smirk translating in his voice. You gasped, eyes wide, your heart palpitating against your ribs.

"Kylo..." you whispered, sitting on the edge of your bed, suddenly lightheaded.

"I wanted to apologize for leaving abruptly this morning, especially without an explanation. Business picked up rather quickly and we were given short notice on our departure." He said, the sound of ice clinking against a glass in the background.
