Lexa POV:

After the beach we went back to Clarke's house, I was going to stay another night. I resisted at first but Clarke is really persuasive. Her mom was out again, the night shift, so we had the house to ourselves, and I wouldn't be putting myself in the middle of her family so I guess it was ok.

We walked in the door and she sighed into the dark house. She turned the lights off and said "do you want anything to eat?" "Sure" I said. I mean I hadn't eaten anything in a few days so I was pretty hungry. "Well I'm not a very good cook but I will try" she said laughing. "I will do it, I can cook." I said, taking off my jacket.

"Wait, you cook?" She looked at me skeptically. "Yeah, when your dad is passed out drunk for half your childhood, you learn a few things in the kitchen if you want to eat" I told her letting out a laugh but her face was traumatized and the laugh she let out was forced. "Even that being said, I won't let you cook for me." Clarke said crossing her arms. "Hey, it's the least I could do for letting me stay." And that seemed to be enough to convince her.

I started cooking in the kitchen as Clarke watched, amazed. She sat on the counter, staring at me. I could feel her gaze on my back and that would usually make me uncomfortable, but I didn't mind. "You know it's rude to stare." I told her without even turning around.

"Do you have eyes in the back of your head?" She said, hopping down from the counter and walking over to me. "No, I can just tell." I said as I smiled at the ground. "That's kind of creepy." She said back. A big smile came over my face and she just kept watching me as I cooked. "You're still staring," I said.

"I just can't believe you can cook, I mean you didn't even look at a cookbook." She said amazed, "well it's really not that hard once you get to know the flavors that go together." I told her, still not looking up from what I was doing. Once again she looked shocked. "I can't believe you just said that." She said laughing. "Why are you so shocked?" I asked her, giving her a glance from the side.

"Well I didn't really expect Lexa Woods to be cooking in my kitchen so-" she trailed off. I didn't really expect this either but, I went with it. I turned to her now, closing the distance between our bodies. "Well just because I can beat up some boys doesn't mean I don't eat," I told her, bending my face down so it was level with hers.

I could see the nervousness in her eyes as our faces got closer, and I saw her cheeks glow more red. I flashed a quick glance to her lips before going back to cooking. She just stood there, frozen. I felt a little bad for teasing her, but the look on her face was too cute not to.

I finished up and we ate together. In comfortable silence, sharing a few smiles and glances as our eyes met. After we ate, we cleaned up and went to her room.

Clarke flopped down on her bed, releasing the rest of her energy she had left. I smiled at her movements, I mean how could I not? I could see the tiredness wash over her and I felt it myself but I pushed it away.

"Hey you look kind of tired, do you want to sleep?" Clarke said, as she was falling asleep herself. "No, I'm ok, I'm not tired." I said but my yawn gave me away. "Really?" She said, lifting her eyebrow, calling my bluff. "Why don't you want to sleep?" She asked me.

"I don't want to dream." I told her, sitting next to her but not letting her look me in the eyes, she can tell what I'm thinking just by looking in them. It's like she is psychic or something. "Why don't you want to dream Lex?"

My ears perked at the new nickname, "because when I dream, I dream about her, and the accident," my eyes now shifting to her blue ones, as if they want to be seen. She looks at them and understands, she says nothing else but she opens her arms, offering me into them.

We lay down on the bed, Clarke's arms wrapped around my torso, my head resting on her chest, our legs intertwined. I could hear her heartbeat, and her breathing. It was consistent, calming, I half expected it to stop suddenly. But it never did. I started to feel myself fall into slumber, and I tried to stop myself but it was too strong.

I fell into a deep sleep, in Clarke's arms. Her body heat was keeping me warm, her arms wrapped around her making me feel safe and the smell of her perfume was calming.

It was the best sleep I have had in years.
