Narrator POV:Clarke shut the door immediately, like slammed it shut and ran back into the room she had left Lexa in.
She knew she shouldn't go back but she had to know what happened. She didn't even think, she just needed to know where the gunshot came from and who it hit. She needed answers.
She sprinted into the room and came to a full on stop when she saw Lexa had her back to her. She still didn't know what happened.
"Lexa?" Clarke said cautiously as she let her eyes roam around her body. The brunette still didn't turn around but a loud thump hit the ground next her her.
A gun dropped from her trembling hands and hit the floor with a loud crash and metal and wood collided.
Clarke let out a little sigh of relief but it was half assed because her heart was still thumping loudly with confusion.
Clarke ran over to her and faced her since Lexa still refused to turn around. Lexa had blood all over her body. Her face was starting to bruise with purple and blue dancing on her cheek. Her hands were also covered in blood as Clarke did a double take across her body to make she there wasn't a bullet hole. Thankfully, she didn't see one.
But her eyes, god, they were different. They weren't what Clarke knew, her eyes looked absolutely dead. They were so unfocused and gone, like her soul left her body. Although unfocused, she was staring at one spot.
Clarke followed her gaze to the spot on the floor Lexa's green eyes couldn't remove themselves from.
Her dad laid there.
There was blood surrounding him and spilling out onto the floor but he wasn't moving, not even a flinch.
Seconds later the police knocked down the door and stormed into the house. Lexa was snapped out of it and looked to Clarke who she now just notice was standing in front of her.
"Are you ok?" Lexa asked as she took in a sharp breath and looked over at the blonde, not wasting any time before pulling her into a tight hug.
Lexa listened intently. She held her breath until she heard the rhythm of Clarke's heart beating. She finally let out her breath only by the fact that she could prove Clarke was still alive.
She knew she was standing in front of her but she HAD to make sure, she NEEDED to make sure.
"I'm fine, what about you?" Clarke said with a chuckle but also a cry at how concerned Lexa was for her even though she was the one in danger.
"I'm ok," Lexa said as she pulled Clarke closer, not wanting any space between them. She needed Clarke close, she never wanted to let her go.
"You ladies need to come with us," one of the officers said and Clarke and Lexa finally pulled away with many moments of hesitation.
Lexa nodded to him and they followed them out of the house. They put them in the back of the cop car and drove to the police station in complete and utter silence.
They sat in the waiting room of the police station in complete silence, not even daring to breath to loudly so they wouldn't break it silence that seemed to be the only think holding them together until Abby came in.
She ran up and embraced Clarke in a tight hug of relief and love while Lexa sat in a chair, not moving and her eyes were trained at a certain spot on the wall while her brain felt like it left her body.
Her clothes and body were still caked with sticky blood. But her body didn't shake. It was perfectly still. She sat their, unmoving, like a statue.
"Lexa honey, are you ok?" Abby asked as she bent down to eye level with Lexa who didn't seem to register her approach. She didn't say anything or make eye contact with Abby. She stared right past her, at the same spot on the wall.
"Ms. Woods, we need to speak with you," an officer said as he walked into the room and stood confidently, looking at her.
"No, you can't do that," Abby said, defending her and she was about to do it again but Lexa stood up, her eyes still fixated on the wall and went with the officer anyways, not looking to Clarke or Abby. She just left.
About 20 minutes later. 20 minutes of pacing, knee bouncing, fidgeting, crying, Lexa came back out with the same officer.
"Is everything ok?" Clarke asked, standing up from her chair and Lexa gave her a quick nod. She was still out of it, her mind elsewhere.
"You are free to go," The officer said to Abby and Clarke. "Come on, let's go," Abby said as she put a hand on Lexa's shoulder and the other on Clarke's. She guided her out of the station.
They got in the car in silence before Lexa, of all people, broke it.
"Uh-we-we should go get Luna and Raven," Lexa said weakly, using all her energy to make words. She had no energy left in her body.
"It's late, we will get them tomorrow," Abby said in a caring tone and Clarke looked between them as if she missed something. Well, she did, she missed a lot.
They got back home, both Abby and Clarke noticed that Lexa was unfocused and her body was frozen. More than even before.
Abby eyed Clarke, giving her a look and Clarke reciprocated it as silent communication. Even if they had been speaking, Lexa would not have been able to register it so it didn't matter. Clarke carefully guided Lexa to her room by her hand, Lexa's legs moved willingly but barely.
Lexa didn't say anything and her eyes didn't hold anything, they were empty and she followed Clarke aimlessly. Clarke led her into the bathroom and turned the water on.
Clarke removed Lexa's bloody shirt and lifted it over her head with little help or movement from Lexa. But she didn't resist, not that she could if she wanted to, her body was so worn out.
"Lex, I'm going to need you to remove your pants," Clarke said. She couldn't do that for her, especially in Lexa's state, it felt like a violation. Lexa lazily complied and Clarke let a small smile slip as she saw Lexa finally registering her words.
She unbuttoned and slipped her jeans down her legs and Clarke helped her the rest of the way. She sat Lexa down on the closed toilet seat and pulled her pants off her ankles. Clarke stood Lexa back up gently and took one last look at her before putting her in the shower.
After a few minutes of hearing nothing, Clarke spoke up. "Do you need help Lex?" She asked softly. There was no response. She debated doing anything but in her current state, she needed to help Lexa.
Clarke got up and slowly moved the curtain back and Lexa had her eyes closed as the water came down on her face.
Clarke stepped under the water so she was in front of Lexa. Lexa opened her eyes as she felt Clarke in front of her. That was a good sigh at least. She still held no life and when Clarke looked in them, she couldn't see the familiar gaze of her.
Clarke took a wash cloth and gently wiped the blood off of her face, hair and body. Clarke turned the water off after she cleaned her and helped Lexa out of the shower. She handed Lexa a towel while she used one for herself to dry off after she realized she was still in her clothes when she stepped under the water.
Lexa dried herself slowly and Clarke put fresh, clean clothes on her before she put Lexa into the bed and tucked her in. Clarke turned out the light and went into the bed next to her.
When Lexa felt Clarke's presence in the bed, she turned over to face her and tucked her face into the crook of Clarke's neck.
She needed her comfort that only Clarke could give her. She needed the familiar scent of Clarke's body, the warm embrace of Clarke's skin and the slight tingling feeling she got at simple Clarke's touch.
Clarke stayed quiet and rubbed her hands in circles on Lexa's back until she felt the girl fade into sleep against her body.
