«I'd never change, thought I'd never change
Then you come and change it all
With your love, your love
I'm a better, better man
With your love, your love
I'm a better, better man
Darling, all of my wrongs, they led me right to you
Wrapped in your arms, I swear
I'd die for your love, your love
I'm a better, better man
Thought I'd found the highest of highs
You came and topped them all
You shine in the dead of the night
And I was the first to fall»

Two or three days passed before any of us mentioned anything we had talked about.
Michael just acted normally, like nothing had happened. He disappeared for an hour or two every afternoon for reasons he hadn't told me, but he came back every evening so I wasn't so worried.
Ashton didn't act much different than before, except for the fact that he stole a glance at me every once in a while. Or maybe I just hadn't noticed that before.
Luke and Cal had almost gotten in trouble with Mr. Collins when they tried to tell him that Ash, Michael and I were all sick on the same day, but they hadn't even gotten detention.
They were lucky.

"Hey, did you guys hear about the assembly today?" asked Cal, walking alongside Ash in the hallway.
"No. What happened?" asked Michael, arching a brow.
"No idea" Luke shrugged. "I think they have news. It'll be today, right after Biology."
"Right. You're with me, Heart!" smiled Ash.
Yup, he was older than us but we still had a class together. He hadn't been able to pass for a couple of times. Nothing too bad.
"Yup, okay. I'll see you guys in an hour!" I said, waving at the other boys.
But Michael just had to look at me in a weird way, so of course he was all I could think about during the lesson. What was wrong with him?

"Hey, Lils, is something wrong?" asked Ashton in a whisper during the lesson. "You've been ripping that piece of paper for half an hour now. What's up?"
I shook my head. "I don't know. Michael is not alright."
Ashton got serious. "He looked fine to me."
"I don't know," I sighed. "He looked at me in a weird way. Maybe I'm just overthinking."
"Ask him how he is later, maybe" he suggested. "I bet he's fine. Don't worry, nobody kills Michael Clifford!" he laughed.
"Irwin, Heart, listen to the lesson, you'll talk later."
"Sorry, Mrs. Black."

"Good morning, students" started Mr. Collins the next hour. The whole school was listening to him, or pretending they were. The boys and I were sitting together in a corner, chatting together - except for Calum, who was actually trying to listen.
"As you all know, our principal wanted you to be here today because we have an important announcement to make" he smiled. That sight still gave me a fright every time. "But since he's busy, I'll take his place for today. The big news is that our school has decided to organize a special couple of weeks. You will participate in fun activities - still related to our subjects, of course - and we'll have many special guests. Any questions?"
"When will these activities start?" asked a purple haired girl in the third row.
"Soon. We'll let you know when everything is ready."
"Who are the guests?" asked a girl in the front. I saw Luke staring at her for a second too long. I bet he thought she was cute.
"That will be a surprise," explained Mr. Collins. "If any of you have ideas, feel free to share them with us."
"Hey, how cool would it be if One Direction came here for Music class?" asked Calum.
"How do we convince them, though?" said Ashton.
"We'll find a way!" smiled Michael.
I couldn't help but be surprised. Why was he so enthusiastic about us being around Louis and Harry now? Was it because of something he had found?
I shook my head. I needed to talk to him seriously, and as soon as possible. But I needed to know more about him first.

"Mum, are you here?" I asked, closing the front door behind me and letting my backpack fall on the ground. There was no response, so I assumed she was still at work. I sighed and ran upstairs, to my room. I took off my jacket and threw it on a chair, then I turned on my computer.
I had guessed that since angels were pretty common creatures in this reality I should've been able to find something useful on the internet.
I trusted Michael, of course, but he was keeping some sort of secret from me and I wanted to know what he had found out about Lou and Harry.
I also wanted to know if what he had done for me was actually legal or not. He had told me that most Angels didn't like to get attached to their humans, and I was pretty sure that being best friends with one of us wasn't really… accepted.
I basically wanted to find out the same stuff he knew by myself. Even though I didn't know what I was getting myself into.
