«Every moment spent, I wish I was with you
And every night I slept, I dreamt I was with you
No matter where you go, you know I'd wait for you
I would break and bend, if you wanted me to
(Lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-love)
So you go your way and I'll go mine
And if we're meant to, I'll meet you there
We can't speed up the hands of time
But if we're meant to
Lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-love,
I'll meet you there
Lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-love,
I'll meet you there
Lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-love
[...]
This time or next time
You know I'll meet you there

Tell me what's on, on my mind, if this is it
Lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-love»

Michael's P.O.V. again I guess

Guess what I was thinking about that night?
Yup. Her.
You might be thinking something like: "Michael, stop being so dramatic. She's fine, shut up". You're probably right, but I still wanted to see her and talk to her.
I was eating dinner with my parents, but I didn't talk to them at all. They tried asking me questions every once in a while, but I didn't really answer. I was already planning something. My plan involved sneaking out past my curfew, breaking my parents' rules, kidnapping Lily to steal her from Amy, driving around for a while and possibly staying up all night, causing me and her to skip school the next day.
It sounded like everything I would never have done in my first life. And now here I was.
Lily literally drove me insane.

After dinner I went upstairs in my room again, telling my parents I was tired. I took my backpack, ready for the next day of school, and emptied it. I put all the books on a shelf and I filled the backpack with a couple of blankets, a flashlight, a bottle of water, an extra hoodie and snacks. I closed the backpack, took a jacket and opened the window, looking down.
Was the jump too high? I hadn't gotten my wings back yet, even though my shoulders were hurting a lot lately. I was sure I would have had wings in a day or two.
I decided to jump out of the window. I wasn't so up high after all. What was the worst that could happen?
Just as I had planned, I didn't get hurt too bad. My ankle was being a bit dramatic, but I was fine.
I had a plan in mind, and I couldn't let this occasion pass.
I needed to talk to Lily immediately.

Back to Lily's P.O.V. :)

I decided to get up from my bed for dinner, and Amy was surprised to see me. "Hey, Lils! How are you feeling?"
I shrugged. "Not so good. Not too bad."
She smiled. "Michael was here earlier."
"He was?" I asked. I didn't think he would ever have wanted to see me again after what I had said.
"Yup. Surprised?" she asked.
"A bit. Why was he here?"
"For you. He wanted to know what you were doing and how you were feeling. You should talk to him, Lils."
"Would he listen?" I whispered, hopeful.
Mum nodded. "He wouldn't have shown up if he didn't care. Go" she said, gesturing to the door. "You can stay out past the curfew for tonight. You'll need to talk."
I got up and rushed upstairs to change. "Thanks, mum!"
I was ready in less than two minutes and I ran out the front door.
I started walking towards Michael's house, just to see him walking towards mine.
"Lils" he sighed, noticing me. "Listen, I'm-"
I didn't let him finish. He had to catch me.
I had missed hugging him, even if it had been just a day.
He let me go after a while, smiling. "Not here. If mum sees me hugging you she'll think we're a thing. I know a spot."
"Perfect!" I smiled. "I need to talk to you."

After a while we were walking alone on the beach, in silence. The only noises I could hear were our footsteps on the sand, the waves and our breathing.
"We need to do this more often" I heard Mikey's voice say.
"Yeah, we do."
He stopped and looked at me. "We do… what?"
"Oh. Didn't… didn't you say that out loud?"
He shook his head and smiled. "You need to practice how to not hear people's thoughts."
I chuckled. "I know, I know. Hey, can we stop walking for a while and just, like, sit down?"
"Yeah, why not" he said, pointing over to a spot on the sand. "Over there should be fine."
"So" he continued, after we had sat down on the sand. "I think we both need to say something, don't we?"
I nodded. "Who's starting?"
"I am" he sighed, looking down at his hands. "I overreacted. I'm sorry. I just… I need to make sure you're safe at all times. If something ever goes wrong…"
"...You would pay the consequences. I get it" I finished. "I need to apologize, too. What I said… that I could live another twenty years without you. I'm not so sure about that. The last time I tried to live twenty years without you it wasn't ending so well" I joked. Michael chuckled. "I noticed."
"Seriously, I get it now. I should have told you sooner. I'm sorry."
"I know. Come here" he whispered, opening his arms.
We sat there in silence for a while, just watching the sunset.
But apparently this peace wasn't built to last.
"Lils, there's something else I need to talk to you about" said Michael. I looked up at him, my head still on his shoulder. "What is it?"
He shook his head, closing his eyes, like he was trying to clear his head. Then he sighed. "I have no idea how to say this. You'll probably hate me and…"
"Oh, come on. What is it? What did you do?" I asked.
"Nothing. Yet."
"What do you mean?"
He sighed again, looking down at me. "Promise me you won't get mad. I'm about to do something weird."
"What?"
"Lils. Please."
"Okay, okay, I promise, but-"
I couldn't finish the sentence, because someone just had to kiss me.
Yeah, him. In the middle of a sentence. He could have at least let me finish.
All I could feel was his lips on mine and the butterflies having a party in my stomach.
He tasted like chocolate, its flavour sweeter than I thought it would be.
Not that I spent all day thinking about kissing him, of course. Why would I have done that?
I kind of just… panicked? I don't know. I hadn't kissed anyone in so long. My heart was racing in my chest and I had forgotten how to breathe.
In that moment I was too shocked to do anything but ask myself why he had done that. I mean, I knew there was a reason, of course. But I never thought he liked me that much.
To be honest, I didn't mind. Quite the opposite, actually.
He pulled away after a while, doing everything he could to avoid looking me in the eyes. "Sorry. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have, you don't want to see me for a while, you need space, I know. Sorry, I-"
"Hey, hey! Calm down" I laughed. "I'm not mad at you. I'm fine. We're fine."
"Thank Goodness. I thought you were going to kill me" he chuckled, his arm around my shoulders.
"No, I promised I wouldn't get mad. It's just…"
"Just what?" he sighed, finally looking at me again.
I shook my head. "Nothing. It just feels a bit weird. Like, I didn't think you felt this way. I mean, I had suspicions, but-"
"You heard some of my thoughts, didn't you?" he asked, blushing a bit.
I nodded. "Nothing too bad, don't worry" I added.
"Again, you need to learn how to filter the thoughts you hear."
"I know, I'm working on it!"
He stayed silent for a couple of seconds, then he smiled. "You know what I like about you?"
"Nope."
"Like, you're my best friend and I just kissed you. And you don't make it feel weird at all. It's like nothing different has happened, but at the same time I feel like… like someone lifted a weight off my chest."
"For how long have you liked me?" I asked. "Like, in this way."
He looked at the horizon for a second before answering. "I knew I liked you since that night."
"Why the emphasis on 'liked'?" I said, arching a brow.
"Because it's getting serious."
"Wait, what do you mean?"
"Nothing. I'll tell you, one day. Maybe. It's too soon now" he sighed, shaking his head. "Listen, did you eat anything today?"
I nodded. "I had crackers for lunch."
"Crackers… and?"
I shrugged. "Water."
"Are you stupid, Lils?" he exclaimed. "Why didn't you eat anything? Good thing I know you well and I brought snacks- they were right here, wait" he continued, searching in his black backpack.
"You sound like Amy!" I giggled.
"I'll take it as a compliment. Here" he said, handing me a sandwich. "This one's your favorite, tuna."
"Thanks."

We stayed together on the beach the whole night. Michael had brought blankets, snacks and extra hoodies. "You're the best!" I had exclaimed when he told me he had brought pizza.
We had also fallen asleep for a while. We were both tired and it wasn't too cold under the blankets.
We had also talked for a while longer. We needed to catch up on all the stuff that had happened in the last few hours. Michael told me he had gotten in trouble with Mr. Collins. Again.
And he had made a reference to angels and otherworldly stuff.
Again.
He also asked me about Ash, if I had talked to him recently and how I felt about him. Was he jealous?
"I don't know what to do about him and this whole situation," I explained. "I mean, I like him, but I'm not sure if I like him… in the same way you like me. Get it?"
He nodded. "Yeah, yeah. It's my fault you two are in this situation. Sorry."
I shrugged. "I know you meant well. I just need to think about this - Ash, you and I and the whole situation - and then I'll talk to him. And I'll tell you everything as soon as I figure this out, okay?"
Michael nodded. "Okay. I'll be waiting for you, as always."

||In the next chapter...||
Mr. Collins called.
[...]
"Great" he said, but I heard him think something else. "Please, don't let my plan work. Please."
[...]
"Why is everything about angels in this class, sir?"
