«She's dropping out of school 'cause she don't need the grade,
The colors in her hair don't seem to fade,
I get dressed up when I go out but she gets dressed down
[..]
She's got a rose tattoo but she keeps it covered,
I play guitar but she's into drummers
[...]
I pierced my lip so she thinks I'm cool,
I ripped my jeans and dropped out of school,
I followed her 'round the town but she thinks that I'm a weirdo now»

Almost another month passed before something interesting happened. We had another assembly that day, and I had assumed it was about those special weeks we had talked about the other time.
The boys and I were sitting in our usual corner, waiting for Mr. Collins to start talking.
"Did I tell you guys that I talked to Niall?" said Ashton. "I asked him and the rest of the band to be our special guests for these two weeks!" he smiled, proud of himself.
"Good job, Ash. What did he say?" I asked.
"Well, he hasn't replied to my text yet. But he will!"
Calum was about to reply when three girls sat next to me, laughing and talking. I recognized two of them: they were the ones who had asked questions in the last assembly.
The one I didn't know turned to look at me and the boys. "Hi! I'm KayKay!" she smiled, offering me a hand. I took it. "I'm Lily. These are Michael, Ashton, Luke and Calum."
"I'm Crystal!" exclaimed the purple haired girl, waving. "She's Sierra."
"Hi" smiled Luke. "Nice to meet you."
Sierra was about to say something when Mr. Collins walked in, causing us to shut up for a second.
"Good morning, students. As you probably know, I'm here today to announce the imminent start of the two weeks we had talked about in our last meeting. As soon as this week ends - in a couple of days - we'll start. I had asked you all to think of someone we could welcome to our school as a special guest. Do any of you have an idea?" he asked.
I saw Ash gasp while checking his phone, then he slowly raised his hand.
Mr. Collins looked annoyed. "Yes, Irwin?"
Ash's voice was shaking when he replied. "We could have One Direction here for two weeks. They're here in Sydney and I already talked to Niall. Everything's ready."

"You really know One Direction?" asked Crystal, following me and the boys down the hallway and to the cafeteria. "Yeah!" I smiled. "We'll be on tour with them this summer. We already met them."
"Is Lou really that short?" asked KayKay.
"Hey, that's rude!" joked Ash. "But yeah, he really is" he added a second later.
"Girls, stop fangirling for a second. Earth to Crystal?" laughed Sierra.
"Nah, let them be" smiled Luke. "We went in fangirl mode too when Lou called us. Am I right, Ash?" he joked.
Ash shrugged. "I mean, I think it's the most logical reaction if One Direction calls you out of nowhere."
"Understandable" laughed Cal.
"I don't understand, actually" joked KayKay. "I would've just fainted!"

We all sat at the same table at lunch, and I ended up between Luke and Crystal.
Michael was talking about guitars and music with Cal and Ash, and I noticed that Luke couldn't stop looking at him.
I just shook my head and pretended I hadn't noticed, focusing on my plate, but then I heard Luke's voice loud and clear… in my head.
"He's so cute when he talks about stuff he likes."
My head snapped up instinctively, and I turned to look at my friend.
He noticed and looked at me. "What?"
I shook my head. "Nothing. I'll tell you later."
It was the second time something like that had happened to me. I heard stuff they hadn't said out loud. The first time at Michael's, and now with Luke. I was starting to think that I could have gotten some kind of power too. Would that even be possible?
I tried to focus on Cal, just to try it, and as I expected I heard his voice even though he hadn't said a word. "Ash, you should smile more."
"Lils, are you okay?" asked Crystal. "You look like you've just seen a ghost. Is that your power or…?"
I shook my head. "No, I… I'm fine. I was just thinking about… stuff. I'm fine though." I hope.

"Mum!" I called out, slamming the door. "I need to talk to you! Where are y- OH MY GOD!" I yelled when she appeared out of nowhere in front of me. "Hey, Lils!" she smiled. "Sorry for that. I forgot to tell you that I can turn invisible sometimes. What's going on?"
"I have powers too."
She furrowed her brow. "Shouldn't this whole second life thing be enough?"
"I thought so too. Look at this. Think of something. Anything."
"Why?"
"Just do it!" I protested, focusing on her. "I'm hungry and I have no idea what to cook for lunch", I heard her think.
I repeated the same words out loud, and Amy was left speechless.
I just shrugged. "Told you."
