When Alice woke up she felt better though her chest hurt like hell. Someone was holding her hand and she looked over to see George. His head was on the bed and he was slouched over sleeping but still holding her hand. She realized she was back at the Burrow and in her room. She figured Bill took her back. Alice heard the door open and Bill entered quietly with healing potions and herbs. When he turned around he was shocked to see Alice awake. Alice held her finger up to her mouth, telling him to be quiet because George was sleeping. "Glad your awake. You broke three ribs and sprained your wrist. You also had a cut on your head but I healed it. I'm working on your ribs, they're healing slowly but since you're part Veela it might take shorter time to heal. We'll have to see though. Also I'm sorry, I had to do the healing and saw you in your bra. Mum said it would be easier for me to heal you since well I get hurt often on the job." Bill whispered quietly. Alice assured him that it was ok that he saw her in a bra because he was heeling her and it was what he had to do. Bill also assured her he looked respectfully. Alice asked how long George had been there. Bill responded by saying that as soon as he brought her back to the Burrow he was trying to get in the room but Bill kicked him out because he had to focus on what he was doing. Alice chuckled at hearing this and realized she was still shirtless. Bill grabbed George's zip up sweatshirt and gave it to her but told her not to put it on yet because he had to check her ribs and wrist. He pried George's hand from Alice's waking George up. "Alice! Oh Merlin your ok! Oh thank Merlin you scared me!" George said and hugged her. He let go though because Alice flinched in pain and he started to apologize. Alice told him it was ok and that's when George realized she was only in a bra. He blushed and looked away. Bill chuckled and told George to leave and eat something. After George left Bill started laughing as he checked on Alice. She asked what was so funny and Bill said that it was so obvious they liked each other and should get together already. Alice blushed but assured him that George had no feelings for her whatsoever. Bill chuckled and mumbled to himself something that Alice couldn't hear. "So how long have I been out for?" Alice asked. Bill told her that she was out for three days which shocked Alice. The longest she'd ever been unconscious for was 2 hours after a quidditch match. She asked what she missed and Bill replied by saying not much just the typical work at the Ministry to get everything under control and Molly worrying over Alice and checking on her. After he checked Alice he helped her put the sweatshirt on then left so she could rest.
An hour later Molly came in with Alice's favorite meal, chicken noodle and dumpling soup with two biscuits and a glass of pumpkin juice. She was rambling on about how Alice gave her a major scare and how worried she was for her. Alice thanked Molly and she left. George came in and they started talking. They spent the night talking about the new school year coming and what classes they had. George wanted so badly to kiss Alice goodnight and but instead he said goodnight and gently hugged her and left to go to bed.
In George's Bedroom
George lay awake late into the the night thinking about Alice. He wondered about if she had feelings for him but he dismissed those thoughts quickly. No I'm only her best friend, that's it. That's all I'll ever be to her. She's too perfect for me and I'm not good enough for her. She deserves someone better. George left those thoughts in his head but they hurt. It hurt to know she would never feel the same way he did. George stared at the wall with tears in his eyes, threatening to spill out. It was hard to not cry but George managed and he fell asleep to the soft snoring of his brother in the next bed over.
Meanwhile....
Alice lay there, thinking about what Bill had said earlier. George would never like her like that, ever. She was only his best friend and that was it. Bill was wrong about George liking her and Alice knew to not get her hopes up, knowing that nothing would ever happen. She looked over at the clock and realized it was 1:30 in the morning and she decided to go to sleep. It was hard to get comfortable because of her ribs but she eventually got into a comfortable position and fell asleep, her mind filled with thoughts of the redhead jokester.
One Week Later:
On their last day at the Burrow before going back to Hogwarts, Alice was woken by Harry saying that breakfast was ready. Alice slowly stood up and realized that the pain was finally gone and she smiled. She put on a maroon skirt and black tight t-shirt with her heeled boots. She went downstairs and immediately went to help set the table. She didn't hear George coming down the stairs. George stopped in his tracks when saw Alice. He looked her up and down and whispered to himself "Damn" and bit his lip. Alice stood up and turned around locking eyes, George looked her up and down again and Alice got butterflies.
After breakfast they all headed upstairs to finish packing. On the way up the stairs George couldn't help but stare at Alice, who was in front of him. They all went there separate ways and started packing.
After everyone packed they all went to sit in the living room. Alice got an idea and thought to mention it since it was hot and their last day of summer. "Guys we should go swimming in the lake down the hill!" Alice said loud enough for everyone to hear. They all agreed and went to get changed.
Hermione came downstairs in a black one piece, Ginny came down in a red full piece and Alice came down in a red bikini. When George saw her he almost passed out. The bikini showed off her tanned skin, hourglass figure and her stretch marks that he found beautiful. They all went out and walked down to the lake to enjoy their last day. All with George eyeballing Alice.
When they got their they all immediately jumped in. They played Marco Polo, sharks and minnows, and had chicken fights. Alice was watching George mess around in the water. She thought he looked hot with his hair wet and muscles showing, glistening with water. George thought the same about Alice too. Ron was busy staring at Hermione's curvy body. They were all splashing around in the water till sunset.
As they were walking back they saw a little black kitten with green eyes. Alice bent down and pick him up. "Guys! Look what I found! He was just laying there whining." Alice said with excitement. They all looked at her and saw her holding the small kitten in her hand. Ginny said that Alice should keep him since she's always playing with Crookshanks. Alice decided to keep the small animal and George came over and wrapped his towel around the shaking animal. He smiled at Alice and they all continued the walk back to the Burrow for dinner.
