The next morning Alice woke up on George's chest. She smiled and got off him, happy she came to his dorm. She woke George up already realizing that Fred was gone and Lee and Chris weren't there yet. George awoke silently panicking wondering if Alice had heard what he said to her last night. "So... um how'd you sleep Alice?" George asked, hoping to Merlin she didn't mention anything. Alice said she fell asleep again quite quickly but she also said that she thought she heard someone say something but she blew it off. George breathed a sigh of relief and said he was going to shower. Alice said she'd see him later and she left for her dorm.
When she entered she saw that everyone was gone except for two people, Molly and Neville. They'd gotten together at the end of third year and were inseparable. Alice wanted to leave them there so they could cuddle some more but decided to wake them so Snape wouldn't give them detention for being late.
"Molly, Molly get up! Your gonna be late! Both of you!" Alice yelled waking them both. Neville sat up a blushing mess because he got caught cuddled up with his girlfriend while Molly groaned and reluctantly got up. Molly kissed Neville goodbye and said she'd see him in a bit. Alice looked at her and smiled. "What are you smiling about?" Molly asked. "Oh nothing just planning your wedding already." Alice said. Molly rolled her eyes said that she'd be planning her and George's wedding if they'd just get together already. Alice blushed and looked away while Molly started laughing and got dressed. She waited for Alice and when she was ready the went downstairs and straight to class since they missed breakfast.
As they entered Snapes monotone voice started speaking. "Miss Twilleager.... Miss Prescott. So glad to have you finally join us, 15 points taken.... from each now sit down and open your books to the Amotentia potion!" He yelled. They said down at the only available seats and sat down. Snape passed out small vials of Amortentia and instructed them to read about the potion the smell it and write down what they smelt. He added in that it would be due at the end of class which earned a groan from everyone and a "Quiet...." from Snape. Everyone proceeded to do what they were told and Molly of course smelt Neville and wrote down rain, flowers and soil. Alice smelt it and immediately she smelt George. His cologne, his shampoo, broom polish, pumpkin pasties, and the Burrow. Alice sighed a wrote down a lie.
Alice Prescott
Rain
The ocean
Wood
Chocolate
Lavender
It hurt to lie but if she wrote that down Snape would know. She couldn't just write George's cologne on her paper that would be stupid. Then again she was stupid, she fell for someone who would never want her that way.
All of her classes flew by with nothing interesting happening other than Seamus failing in Charms and blowing something up as usual. As well as Professor Binns droning on and on and Dean falling asleep on his boyfriends shoulder. Before she knew it, it was time for dinner.
Dinner went by as normal. Dean and Seamus sharing small kisses here and there, Luna and Ginny "secretly" holding hands under the table, Harry and Draco secretly staring at each other when the other looked away, and Lee and Chris sitting close to each other and getting caught staring at each other every so often leaving them blushing. "Bit funny isn't it, Lee and Chris." George said. Alice asked what he meant by that and he said "I just mean that they only just met on the train and now their cuddling and looking like they want to snog each other senseless." with a bit of a chuckle. George found it quite adorable how they got crushes on each other so quickly, must be what his mum said to him a while back,
Love comes unexpectedly, remember that Georgie.
At that thought George looked over to Alice, laughing at something that Dean said about Seamus. He always loved her smile and it was permanently engraved in his memory every time she laughed or smiled. Alice caught his eye and smiled at him, sending butterflies through George's stomach. He smiled back and turned to talk to Lee, who now had his hand on Chris's thigh. "So when are you two going on a date?" George asked with smirk on his face. "I don't know, when will you stop staring at Alice and just kiss her already?" Lee said smirking back at him causing Chris to burst into a fit of giggles. George blushed and looked away slightly annoyed but knowing it was true. Part of him said to make a move but the other part of him said she'd never feel that way towards him.
Dinner ended and everyone was heading towards their dorms. Alice was walking behind George when someone slipped a note into her hand she tried to see who it was but it was too crowded to see who it was. After she got to her dorm she opened the note;
Meet me at the Astronomy Tower at 12. We need to talk.
-Blaise
Alice didn't think anything of it. Blaise was like a brother to her. She protected him and he protected her. Alice changed from her uniform to George's sweatshirt and some sweatpants and started homework while waiting for 12:00 to arrive.
When it was 11:45 she left her dorm and snuck out to meet Blaise. As she turned the corner she saw Flitches cat. Alice quickly pulled a cat treat she kept on her for Griffin from her pocket and gave it to Mrs. Norris and she left Alice alone.
Alice finally made to the Astronomy Tower and saw Blaise looking annoyed and stressed. "Hey are you ok, Blaise?" Alice asked calmly. Blaise turned around and looked relieved when he saw and started to quickly rant to Alice before she asked him to slow down. " I said we have to get Draco and Harry together. I'm sick and tired of Draco talking about him all the time. Potter this, Potter that, perfect Potter with hair and stupid glasses. I'm done, I can't take it anymore please you have to help me Alice!" Blaise said practically close to tears. "I think we should just let them figure it out themselves." Alice said calmly with a chuckle. Blaise then said "We tried that with you and George and nothing happened." leaving Alice quiet and blushing. Blaise was still ranting about Draco's crush for about 15 minutes while Alice just there listening to him smirking and giggling every few minutes. Finally after about an hour Blaise finished his rant and hugged Alice and finally let her leave.
When Alice got back she was still smiling to herself about what Blaise said. She was about to go upstairs when she heard George's voice. "Where have you been Alice?" George asked sounding annoyed. Alice said she was just out for a walk to help put her to bed. George knew she was lying because she dropped the note out of her pocket while sneaking out. "Don't lie to me, I know you were with Blaise, you dropped your little note. So you have a secret relationship with him now is that it Alice?! A Slytherin of all people!" George spat out annoyed and angered at Alice but also slightly heartbroken. Alice was never his but he still got jealous. "I don't have a relationship with Blaise! We're just friends, he's like a brother to me! If you didn't have your head up your ass half the time you would see that! He only wanted to meet with me because he had to rant about something and let off some steam, like I do with you! Your my best friend why do you care who I date! It's not like I'm your girlfriend or something so it doesn't matter and it hurts to know you don't trust me George!" Alice yelled back just as annoyed. They're argument escalated quickly and they were now screaming back and forth at each other and woke all of Gryffindor house.
Fred and Lee were upstairs, putting silencing charms on the doors so everyone could go back to sleep. After they did that they went back to bed with George and Alice arguing like crazy. Downstairs insults and curse words were flying everywhere. Alice was close to tears, George never yelled at her like this before and it was scary. Almost like her brother when he found out she made friends with a Muggleborn. That made her want to cry even more. "What's the problem with you George its not like you should care, your not my boyfriend!" Alice yelled back at him. Their argument kept going for almost an hour. George finally screamed something that ended the argument.
"Maybe don't act like a sneaky, lying bitch and I would have more trust in you Alice!" Alice stood there, shocked at what he said. She started to cry, George never called her a bitch before and it hurt. George was shocked at what just came out of his mouth. He watched Alice tear off his sweatshirt while sobbing. She threw the sweatshirt at him and started up the stairs but she turned to say one last thing to George.
"If you think I'm a lying, untrustworthy bitch then don't be my friend!" She said with tears streaming down her face. Alice ran up the stairs and threw herself on her bed sobbing. Molly heard her come in and got up from her bed. She climbed into Alice's bed and pulled her into her chest. Molly asked Alice what happened and Alice explained the best she could through her tears. Molly stroked her hair and shushed her and soon Alice had fallen asleep wrapped in Molly's arms feeling comforted and slightly better. Molly knew she was going to end up killing George for what he said to Alice but for now Alice needed her and that was her main concern.
Downstairs George sat on the couch in the common room, crying. He never meant to call her that, it slipped out in anger. She never gave him a sweatshirt back especially the one he was holding. It was the first one he gave to her and it was her favorite one. George brought the sweatshirt up to his nose and smelled it. It smelled faintly of her perfume and chocolate. It had some cat fur on it from her cuddling Griffin all the time. It just made George more heartbroken, he already missed her. He's never made her cry before and now he possibly lost his best friend and the first person he's ever really loved. George cried himself to sleep that night on the couch in the common room still clutching the sweatshirt that Alice had worn.
