Chapter 7: The Yule Ball; Part One

Time had passed and it was coming up on Christmas time. Dumbledore had recently announced the Yule Ball that would take place on Christmas Day. That was what everyone was mostly excited about. Although the boys were stressing about dates and the girls were stressing about their outfits. During dance lessons Ron was mortified because he had to dance with Professor McGonagal. Ron was made fun of endlessly by Fred and George. Alice was also mocking Ron as well. Harry was stressed about the next task and he'd been dealing with Draco constantly making fun of him.
It was a Saturday night when Alice and George were in the library helping Harry with research for the next task trying to figure out the egg. Well Alice was helping, George had fallen asleep at the table. "I don't understand why he's constantly bothering me Alice! It's bloody annoying! I'm used it by now but it's just been so much mocking lately. I'm ready to hex him into oblivion the next time I see him!" Harry was ranting to Alice about the constant bullying again. Alice was close to losing her mind and finally snapped. "Bloody hell Harry! He's gay and he's in love with you! He's the one who gave you the note and flower in the hospital wing. He told me not to tell you, so I lied to you. M stood for Malfoy, why else would it have been in green ink!?" Alice yelled before slapping her hand to her mouth in shock. She just outed Draco and told Harry his biggest secret she swore not tell. Alice saw that behind Harry was Draco, with tears in his eyes and blushing out of embarrassment. Harry turned around and Draco just stood there frozen in place. Harry walked up to him and Draco was waiting to be hit or mocked. Instead he found Harry grabbing his face and kissing him. By now George had woken up and stood behind Alice, equally shocked. Draco finally kissed back and when they pulled away they just looked at each other, blushing. "It's about damn time!" George said breaking the silence. Alice giggled and looked at the two boys. "George let's go. Let them talk." Alice said softly, grabbing George's hand and leading him out of the library.
When they got back to the common room they walked in on Chris straddling Lee and making out. "Oh for fucks sake! I didn't need to see that tonight!" George said sounding frustrated. "This is all they've been doing since they put their beds together and I have to constantly deal with it. End my suffering Alice please!" George said dramatically. This made all of them burst out into laughter. "Sorry mate he's just too irresistible." Lee said kissing Chris's cheek. George gave Alice a pleading look. George's face said it all and Alice smiled. "Yes George you can with tonight." Alice said with a giggle. Lee wolf whistled towards them but they ignored it and went upstairs to bed.
The next morning at breakfast Draco and Harry came in holding hands. George smiled happy that his brother had finally confessed his feelings, unlike him. "Harry looks happy. I'm proud of him." George said with a smile. Alice smiled as they sat down together. "Lovely morning isn't it. Oh hello Draco, sleep well?" Luna asked dreamily as she sat next to Ginny. Draco was shocked everyone had accepted him but told Luna he'd had the best sleep he's had in a while. "Course he did he was cuddled up with Harry all night." Seamus chimed in causing both boys to blush. "And is that a hickey I see Draco?!" Alice asked dramatically already knowing the answer. He slowly nodded and Harry blushed. "Marking your territory already Harry?" George said with a smirk. Harry blushed and said it was an accident. Alice turned to George and smiled. "So do you have a date yet Georgie?" She asked hoping he'd say no. "Nope. Not yet, gonna ask Katie Bell though. She doesn't have a date yet and I figured I'd ask her." George said and that made Alice's heart ache. She was hoping he'd ask her but now she'd have to find someone else. She didn't know who but someone.
Alice walked to potions by herself wondering who'd she take when she bumped into someone. "Sorry Alice didn't see you there." It was Pansy and she helped Alice pick up her books. "No I'm sorry. I was lost in thought." Alice said sadly. Pansy could tell something was wrong so she took Alice's hand. "Hey what's wrong and don't lie to me Alice." Pansy said softly. Alice explained what happened and how she was upset because she wanted George to take her to the ball. "Fuck boys I'll take you and we'll show George what he's missing out on." Pansy told Alice with a smile. Alice smiled too. Now she had a date and Pansy was right.
After potions her and Pansy were heading to their next class together. "So we're having a sleepover in the girls dorm tonight then we're going dress shopping tomorrow. Do you wanna come? Hermione will be there." Alice said smiling because she caused Pansy to blush. It was no secret Pansy was lesbian but only Alice, Blaise and Draco knew about her crush on Hermione. "Yea I'll come. Do you know who her date is?" Pansy asked wondering who got lucky. "Yea it's Viktor Krum." Alice said softly. "Fucking straight men." Pansy mumbled.
Later that night all the girls gathered in the dorm and started talking about their dates and what dresses they would be looking for. Ginny and Luna were obviously going together and so was Parvati and Lavender. Padma said Ron had asked her earlier and Pansy said she was taking Alice because George was being an ass. Molly said how Neville asked her while they were on a candlelight picnic in the greenhouse. They spent the night doing their nails and getting ready for the next day.
The next day they woke up and got dressed. Pansy forgot a shirt and blushed when Hermione gave her one to borrow. At breakfast Alice sat next to George and he asked what she was doing that day and if she had a date. "We're going shopping and getting some other things. Pansy's taking me as a friend since we both didn't have dates." Alice said and George felt guilty he hadn't asked Alice but he knew she wouldn't have said yes. After breakfast the girls headed of to Hogsmede village.
They went to a shop that sold makeup and nail supplies and bought what they needed. They then went to a boutique and picked out some dresses to try on. Though Pansy found a suit she loved and got that instead. Soon they all settled on their outfits and left to go back to Hogwarts.
When Alice walked into the Gryffindor common room she saw George. He got excited that she was finally back and hugged her. "Can I see your dress?" He asked excitedly. Alice just smiled and said he'd have to wait till the ball. She went upstairs and put her things away. She put on George's t-shirt and went to bed, waiting to see George's reaction the night of the ball.
One Week Later
It was now Christmas Eve and Hogwarts was buzzing with excitement about the Ball. Hermione came up with the idea that they should all get ready in her dorm and they all agreed on it. That night Hermione brought out a muggle TV set and some Christmas movies. Alice and George were snuggled up as well as Draco and Harry and Parvati and Lavender. They watched all the classics with Hermione explaining a few things here and there. They all went upstairs to bed when it was 11:00. "Night Alice." George said before kissing her cheek and hugging her tightly.
The next morning they all were up early and were exchanging gifts. Draco got a snake ring from Harry, a muggle book called Hamlet from Hermione, Fred and George gave him chocolate frogs and Alice got him his own pride flag since he loved Harry's so much. Harry received a lion ring from Draco, exploding snaps from the twins, treacle tart from Hermione and broom polish from Alice. Ron got chocolate from Hermione, fudge from Harry, the twins gave him new pajamas since he'd outgrown his, and Alice gave him dragon-hide gloves. Hermione got pumpkin pasties from the twins, Romeo and Juliet from Harry, truffles from Ron, and nail polish from Alice. Fred got chocolate frogs from Hermione, a broom maintenance kit from Harry, George got him pranking supplies, and fireworks from Alice. George got chocolate from Harry, fireworks from Fred, cookies from Hermione, and a Queen band shirt from Alice. Alice got a necklace from Harry, Ron gave her chocolate frogs, Fred gave her matching sweaters for her and Griffin, Hermione gave her an antique hair pin, and George gave her a stuffed Winnie the Pooh bear, a necklace with her birthstone, and chocolate. Everyone obviously got their Weasley sweaters and Molly's famous fudge and nut brittle.
They spent the day playing in the snow, having snow ball fights, and drinking hot chocolate. At 5:30 the girls left to start getting ready for the big night.
In the dorms they were all helping each other with hair, makeup, and zippers. "George is going to be completely jealous. You look stunning Alice." Parvati said with smile and soon they were all ready to go downstairs. Hermione needed a bit of a pep talk but she joined the girls.
When Alice went down the stairs George's jaw dropped. She looked stunning everything about her was perfect. Hermione then made her grand entrance and that took Pansy's breath away. Yes she'd already seen her but she looked even more gorgeous walking down this stairs. Harry needed a pep talk from George and Alice about the first dance, he was scared of what everyone would think since he was with a guy. Alice told him not to give a fuck about what they think and George told him that he'd do amazing. The champions then lined up and made their entrance. Some people were shocked that Harry was with Draco but like Harry was told he ignored them.
The champions the did the opening dance and the Yule Ball began. Slowly more people started joining in and Alice was having an amazing time. She didn't know that George was watching from afar.
