I have nothing to defend myself for not continuing this book. Please remind me to keep writing this.
___ ___ ___ ___"Why are you so weak?"
The vase scattered around the glossy marbled floor. The woman kept screaming and yelling for a long time. Filled the entire house like she's dying.
"This is different from what I imagined! You're sick all the time! I'm tired of you!"
Your back was already against the wall. You wanted to run away but you can't move. No matter how hard you're trying to speak the words stuck in your throat. It was no better than the fever you get from time to time. The same heat, the same pain, you can't ignore. Can only trembling with fears grasping on your neck.
"Why are you like this?"
Your small fragile body finally dropped to the floor. No more tears, nothing left, they were all already gone. The heat and stress during your eyes. You can't look away either. Locked in such a disgusting state. Can't even feel the bloody scratches.
"I shouldn't have given birth to you!"
The woman stormed out of the room. Your ears ringing again, slowly getting loud as you desperately trying to cover your ears.
Scared for dear life because you know the dark will comes again.
"I'm sorry.., dear mother."
"These are all father's friend. Their kids are all smart and clever. You have to be like them. You understand, [y/n]?"
"Yes, dear father." The small you nodding without saying anything again. Everything you said will be held against you. You have come to understand that far in the age of six.
Besides that, you're excited to see the bright scenery in front of you. A big, big room with fancy things in them. Just like what you have at home. What's the best about it is that the people. So many people in the same room fascinate you.
You want to know all kinds of things in the world. You want to live the way you want it.
How hard can that be?
"Hey, you," called the boy in front of you. He has these scary eyes yet his hair looks so beautiful. "You're [y/n]?"
You recognize them from your lesson with your father. He's your cousin, the son, and heir from the main family. His age isn't that far from you too. Maybe you can be friends with him?
"How have you been, brother Ghiaccio. My name is [y/n] [l/n]."
The boy scoffed, "You look dumb. I heard the rumors, they said you're a failure. It seems they're right."
"Eh? What do you mean, brother?"
"I don't need someone as useless as you. Don't call me your brother either," Ghiaccio glared before he's walking away. "I'm way above you."
You've lost count on the moment you've been alone. Stuck with studying and dying, literally. They said something was wrong with your kidney and somehow you got anemia as well. You don't know the details since your parents will never let you know.
You were born as their tool.
And you're obligated to follow.
"Hey, sweetie pie! Can you hear me?"
The ceiling of your room somehow looks uglier than before. Probably because everything you see is still blurry. When you turned around, somehow Melone still looks handsome.
"Give me a smile if you can hear me?"
And as goofy as usual.
You offered the best smile you can do at the moment. Melone held his thumb up with a grin until you try to get up. He becomes all flustered.
"What are you doing? You should lie down."
"I'm fine, brother Mel, thank you."
"You're so persistent," Melone sighed, "Ghia should be back soon. Then I have to go, sorry I can't stay longer."
"Oh no, don't worry. I'll get plenty of rest after this too."
Your words were always mixed up with lies. Your mouth will answer such sweets reassuring lie even when your body rotting to the core. It works every time.
"Mel, you can go now."
Ghiaccio entered the room and Melone immediately stands up. The long-haired man bid you goodbye, patting Ghiaccio's back before he closes the door from outside.
"The doctor said you're pushing yourself."
"Doctor?"
"I called him here."
"Oh."
Brother Ghia must be calling the family private doctor over here.
Fiddling your fingers, you look up to see Ghiaccio was looking at you. With a face you can never understand until now. Is he mad? Is he sad? Is he okay? The mixed emotion on his face is amazing that almost everyone will see it as flat.
"Yes, brother?"
"I told you to not push yourself."
"I said I'm fine. Yes, I may be a little tired, that's it," you defended, clutching on your blanket. "Please, don't worry too much. I can take care of myself."
"Brave words from someone who passed out for six hours."
"Brother Ghia-"
"I saw your form. You actually want to enter the council?"
Ghiaccio's tone of voice gave you chills from back to your neck. If you try to say anything, Ghiaccio won't like to hear it. Whatever you have to say is nonexistent.
"I warned you, the council is too hard for you to handle. They're all not good people. Even Pannacotta, him, he's dangerous. Is he the one who gave you this application form?"
Except for that one.
"No! The pres-senior Fugo has nothing to do with this decision of mine! I take it because I want it! Brother-"
"I see." Ghiaccio stood up and held your hand as he's kissing the top of your head. "I'm confiscating your application form. You know what I mean, don't you? Stay here, I'll bring you food."
You were silent for a long time even after he left. Even now, you're powerless with no chance to speak. You can't do anything. Now, you can't just oppose Ghiaccio who saved you, can you?
You missed your class. Outside where you're equal to everyone. You wonder if you have someone to talk about your dream. Who will listen to you and actually give you the feedback you want.
Senior Fugo.., I want to see him. Maybe we can sit together and talk about something just like that time. I wonder if he'll like my companion?
