Epilogue (edited)

Third-person POV :

Today is the day before Rengoku turns 25. Sanemi had already died a year ago. Rengoku's body had been severely weakened due to the Demon slayer mark, and he struggled with daily activities.

Nezuko and Zenitsu got married. Tanjiro and Kanao also got married, and they have a child on the way. Inosuke and Aoi are dating, Senjuro had found someone he liked, and his father became a better person. Life was going great, too bad it had to end this early. Tanjiro was also fated to die from the mark. Poor kid.

Rengoku's hair had turned whiter, his face became wrinkled, and his muscles started to weaken. He looked like he was older than his father! Tanjiro and Zenitsu helped him put on his clothes every day, and he could not hold anything heavier than chopsticks. Despite his weakening, he still hasn't stopped going to Giyuu's grave every day. Every day, for five years. He spent his time talking to him. Rengoku never found anyone else, he stayed loyal to Giyuu. He could never find someone as great as Giyuu in his eyes.

Very soon, Night fell. Everybody went to sleep, but knowing what they were going to find the next day, nobody slept easy. Zenitsu hugged Nezuko while they both cried. Kanao and Tanjiro was the same. Inosuke and Aoi were outside, praying for Rengoku's afterlife. Senjuro and Kyojiro didn't sleep easy either.

Rengoku, in the middle of the night, stepped out of his room. He took a glance at everyone and fled.

The next day. The sun shone, the wind blew, the water flowed, and the butterflies danced. The Kamado siblings were the first to wake up, and then their lover woke up as well. Finally, the Rengokus woke up. The group of people decided to go and get  Rengoku's body, before realizing he was gone.

The group looked at each other, and immediately knew where he went.

They went there, and saw Rengoku on his knees, in front of Giyuu's grave. They cremated the body and buried him right next to Giyuu.

"Next time. I will definitely protect you."

This was a promise Rengoku made and would keep until the very last bit of his soul disappears.

"Thank you, Kyojuro."

Author's notes :
Yall realized I never wrote the demon slayer Corps' ending right..? Yep. I'm doing a second book.

I also wanted to do this thing where Rengoku and Giyuu were actually the first practitioners of the flame and water breathing and fell in love, but due to loving another with the same gender was forbidden at the time, Rengoku was forced to marry another woman and had children while Giyuu stayed alone the whole time, passing down water breathing to new successors. In the end, both get killed, and like here, everytime Rengoku and Giyuu die they always wait for one another at the bridge and Yua keeps witnessing them die like every 20 something years and removes their memories cause people are not really supposed to be reborn with memories.

But after seeing them fall in love and die with their feeling unreciprocated so many times, Yua decides not to remove their memories this time as their souls are slowly weakening and they will no longer be able to be reborn after this time, and they have two choices, either to go into the afterlife or become a guardian Angel.

yes if I had better writing skills this would be part of the story.
(Well, take it as part of the story pls as it is kinda maybe not be relevant to the plot)
