Josephine's Pov

I spent the Christmas lying to my parents about the reason Hero didn't spend the Christmas with us and even the twins helped me to make them think that Hero wanted to spend his Christmas with his family that lives so far from London.

Today is 30th of December and my parents are back to Perth.
Kath and Nathan after I assured them that I was alright, they left London the day after my parents left and with them left also Kristina and Ethan that wanted to show how is Times Square the 31th to Kris while Gray and I will be passing the New Year in a plane headed to New York and to my new chapter of my life.

I stare at the empty side of the wardrobe, like did in these past days.
The side that used to be Hero's side.

He made Mercy come in here to take his things and take it to Martha's house since he is in Liverpool.
I helped her even I was feeling so empty inside every time I was passing his stuff to Mercy that was putting everything in the boxes.
When she left I also said goodbye to the one that kept a me so much company and slept on the bed with me when Hero wasn't at home: Diesel.

"Jo!" Gray yells from the living room.
"Oh here you're. You want a help with the suitcases?" he asks staring at my suitcases open on the ground.
I don't respond and I stay sit on the ground looking at the empty room.
Gray steps in and he closes the wardrobe looking at me with that sad look on his eyes.
He sits on the ground with me and he stays quiet with his legs crossed.
I sigh and he looks at me. I lean my head on his shoulder still looking, without blinking, the closed wardrobe.
I feel his head place on my head and his fingers brushing my hair.
"Even if it seems the end, It's going to be alright." he whispers to me with his American accent.

Grayson helps me to make my suitcases and set up the last things on the house, covering the couches, chairs...

"Alright when you're ready to leave..." Grayson says hesitating a bit.
"You can go out, I'll be at the taxi in a minute." I say.
Grayson accentuate a smile and nods.
"I will be down. Ah, Selena and El are already down." he advises me.
I nod showing a flat smile.
He leaves and I'm finally alone on the apartment that I used to call home and that treated me good even during my downs.
The place that felt like the safest place on the earth, that wrappers not only by an invisible warmth but also by so much love.
A place that keeps so many memories for itself.

I smell for the pastime the smell of his pillow.
I give the last look at the kitchen and living room and I walk out of the apartment.

I take the elevator with just my phone in my hand since Gray took everything with him.
I while my tears, I walk of the building and I find Elle running to me.
"Here you're!" I say immediately caching her and lifting her up.
She laughs.
"Elle you know that auntie Jo will call you every day right?" I ask her and she not.
Her pure face, makes my tears run down even more faster than before.
"Don't cry." she says with her little voice and wiping my tears with her little hands.
"Okay." I say laughing at the sweet gesture even if my knot gets even more tight.
"Elle tell auntie Jo that we will go to visit her." Justin says from the back of Elle's shoulders.
"We will come to New York City." she says slowly missing some letters making me smile.
"Really? I can't wait." I say kissing her cheek.

I see Selena crying, so I open one of my arm while with the other I hold Elle.
"I'll miss you so much." she says on my shoulder.
"I also will miss my only real girl friend here." I tell her leaning back and slinging at her.
She takes Elle on her arms and I hug Justin.
"Have a safe flight and text us when you will land." he says while I see Christin electric blue parking right next Justin's car.
"Thank you Jus. I'll text on the group chat." I say and right after I hug Eleanor that reaches me for first.

"Ah, you're leaving me." she says.
"I'm not leaving you El." I whisper to her.
"Please don't ignore our calls and call us often.
Take care of yourself in New York." she she whispers.
"I'll and you come to visit New York once." I tell her stepping out of the tight hug and she nods.

I walk to Chris that already with his eyes full of tears trying to show me a smile.
"Come here." he says opening his arms and a tear runs on his face.
I get so touched by the fact he is really crying.
I never saw him in this way. I never saw him cry.

"Go there and show who is Josephine Langford." he whispers.
"I want read about you and your book on the New York  Times." he says making me laugh.

Once in the taxi I wave at the and I look at my car keys on Justin hand that is waving and then I look at everyone that are getting smaller and smaller since we're leaving my neighborhood.

The whole taxi drive I stay with my head placed  on Grayson's shoulder since today my head is heavier than everyday.

We're even late so we do quickly the check in and we run to the gate.
The adrenaline gets higher in my body, a feeling that makes me feel alive for the first one  after a long time.

We get on the flight for a miracle and we sit on our seats.

We listen at the voice coming from the speakers  that is kindly asking to place our handbag under the seat in front of us, to put our seatbelts on in a visible way if we put the blankets and to turn off our mobile phones.

So I take my phone it of my handbag and it vibrates on my hands.
It lightens right in my hand.

Baba🦒🤍: Have a good journey, I hope that NYC will treat you better than London did.
You deserve so much more.

I explode in a cry making worrying Grayson.

Thank you. I also hope Liverpool will treat you right. Remember about the promise.

I text.
"Excuse miss, you have to turn it off." a  hostess says almost yelling at me.
"It's okay, she was turning it off."  Gray says and she walks away glaring at me.
I put my phone on the bag and I place my head on seat while the whole roof is moving tremendously.

We're on the air.
Jo it will be hard at first but you did the right choice.
