06 | Building Connections

It was another busy day for Sakura in the Konoha Hospital. Despite acquiring peace in the shinobi world, the kunoichi still got a handful of patients left and right as stacks of paper piled up on her desk for her to sort and review since Tsunade now made her head of the hospital.

The door to her private office came bustling open and a man with orange clothing welcomed himself.

Sakura sighed with his sudden appearance, especially since he arrived unnoticed. She was ready to punch him but his announcement halted her.

"Kakashi-sensei's inauguration is in three days!"

"Finally. Its been months since that was delayed." Sakura sighed.

It is a known fact that Kakashi is now known and acknowledged as the 6th hokage but no ceremony was displayed. The decision to make him one was hasty and happened prior to the 4th great ninja war while Tsunade was in a coma after Pain attacked the village. After the war, Tsunade seemed to be still running the village so the people thought that Kakashi won't be taking place anytime soon.

"Right?! I can't wait for to call him Lord Hokage!" Naruto giggled with the thought but Sakura has an unreadable face.

"What's wrong, Sakura-chan? Aren't you happy for Kakashi-sensei?"

"Hm? Oh, right. Sorry. I am happy. I just realized something." Sakura laughed off the nervousness she was suddenly feeling.

"What is it?"

"I kind of proposed something to Kakashi-sensei for when he will be hokage and it suddenly dawned to me how much work it will be." Sakura scratched her nape, anxiety crippling in recalling what she has suggested to Kakashi before.

"Oh. What's that—?" Naruto was cut of when two figures appeared behind him. "Sasuke! Yamato-taicho! What are you both doing here?"

"We have a mission to give to Sakura." Yamato responded, handing a scroll to Sakura. Sasuke was standing by the door just looking at her since he entered the office.

Reading the scroll, she furrowed her brows in annoyance. "An escort mission? Can't you guys handle this on your own?" Sakura looked at Yamato and Sasuke in confusion.

"As you read, we will be escorting a pregnant woman with her 4-year old child and she did specifically request for you to escort her."

"It didn't say on the scroll though." Sakura raised an brow.

"Yeah. Tsunade-sama didn't bother to put that in since she... we didn't expect you to complain...?" Yamato has an confused expression on his face as to why Sakura was annoyed at escorting a mother and child. He thought she adored these kind of people.

"Don't get me wrong, I love mothers and children. Its just that..." Sakura glanced at her desk full of files. "...I've been extremely busy handling this hospital since Tsunade-shishou made me the head. I don't know if I have the time to detour for an escort mission that you and Sasuke can easily accomplish."

"If Tsunade-baa-chan allowed the woman for you to escort her, I'm sure the hospital will be taken care of." Naruto assured her. "Right, Sasuke?" Naruto nudged him since he's been quiet this whole time.

"Aa." Sakura looked at him who's been gazing at her this whole time. This didn't go unnoticed to her since he wasn't really hiding the fact he's staring at her. She looked at Naruto then at Yamato then sighed for the nth time of the day.

"You and Sasuke are going with me, right, Yamato-taicho?" Sakura bit her lip as she felt herself about to give in.

"That's right."
