Anne Mae's POV

I approached the back door of the diamonds club. I scanned my card & opened the door. Before I could even get in the door good, somebody yelled my name.

"ANNE MAE!"

I dropped my bag by accident

I dropped my bag by accident. I quickly picked it up causing all my stuff to fall out. I groaned & quickly picked it up. Diana ran over & helped me.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't startled you like that" she said.

"It okay" I giggled "I'm just clumsy."

"I wanted to talk to you about something that I think you'll probably be interested in" she said.

Once everything was in the bag, we both sat up straight. "What is it?"

"How would you like to record a song before tonight's performance?" She asked excitedly.

"R-r-record a song?"

"Yes darling, I have the equipment already set up in the back. All you have to do is give me a straight answer" she said.

"Wow, this all too soon. I mean I just started working here!"

"Oh this is off the record sweetie. This a backup plan just in case something ever happens to the club like last night. We don't need that happening again" she added.

"Gee, I never had a backup plan before although it do sounds like a good idea. Let's do it."

She smiled "let's get to work."

I stood behind the standing microphone that's dangling in front of me. I put the headphones over my ears. Diana stood behind the glass window messing with the equipment. She pushed a button.

"Are you ready?" She asked.

"Yes!"

"Alright, I'm starting the music" she said.

I heard the peaceful music playing in my head. I can't believe I'm doing this. Recording my first song!

I've had enough of danger
And people on the streets
I'm lookin' out for angels
Just tryin' to find some peace
Now I think it's time
That you let me know
So if you love me
Say you love me
But if you don't
Just let me go

'Cause teacher
There are things that I don't want to learn
And the last one I had
Made me cry
So I don't want to learn to
Hold you, touch you
Think that you're mine
Because it ain't no joy
For an uptown boy
Whose teacher has told him goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

Diana smiled with excitement & motioned me to continue.

When you were just a stranger
And I was at your feet
I didn't feel the danger
Now I feel the heat
That look in your eyes
Telling me "No"
So you think that you love me
Know that you need me
I wrote the song, I know it's wrong
Just let me go

Michael is in the room with me. He stood behind diana staring at me with those cold blue eyes. He seemed a bit uneased today. Like something was bothering him.

So when you say that you need me
That you'll never leave me
I know you're wrong, you're not that strong
Let me go

He tapped her shoulder getting her attention. She turned around & spoke to him. He told her something bad because she immediately frowned in anger. By the way she was flinging her hand, she was cussing him out.

And teacher
There are things that I still have to learn
But the one thing I have is my pride
Oh, so I don't want to learn to
Hold you, touch you
Think that you're mine
Because there ain't no joy
For an uptown boy
Who just isn't willin' to try
I'm so cold inside
Maybe just one more try

The music stopped causing diana to have her attention back on me. I took off the headphones smiling awkwardly.

"How was that?"

"You did an amazing job dear! I felt that in my spirit like you mean it" she exclaimed through the speaker.

I walked out of the booth squealing. "My first recorded song!"

"And it will be a hit too best believe that sweetie" she pinched my cheeks "your too talented."

"Yes indeed anne mae" Michael said.

"Hi Michael."

"Anne mae" he grabbed my hand & kissed the back of it while making eye contact. I blushed in embarrassment. He gave me a smile reminding me of the kiss we did last night. It was magical. I felt fireworks everywhere. I guess that's how a first kiss felt like.

"Anne mae, why don't you rehearse for tonight's performance?" Diana interrupted.

I stopped smiling "sure thing."
