Loki watched you enjoy yourself as he held Aphrodite close. His head lay on top of hers as she kicked around the stones which slowly frosted from the cold weather. It didn't seem to bother Loki but evidently got too much for the goddess as she dragged him back inside.
The smile you held on your lips didn't leave his thoughts. Never did. Not since he first saw you sass back at Stark.
Why did he ever think Aphrodite could replace you?
What was he saying?! He loved Aphrodite! What wasn't to love? She was beautiful, caring, good in the bedroom... though she was whiny and self obsessed, didn't enjoy literature as he did... as you did.
She seemed to validate the status of the courting by how many photos were posted of the two that week. 40 was a good number, 30 was getting dangerous and any less would mean a fight at the end of the 7 days.
Gods this was taxing on his soul. Not even two days ago she had caught him in his Jotun form. He remembered her scream vividly, her shouts of disgust and repulsion.
Her eyes spoke of nothing but hate. They nearly broke up that day. She seemed too scared, too grossed out by the thought of his other form.
He spent that night in a cold sweat of harsh tears streaming down his face when she had left to her own dorm.
She said 'I love you' and he did as well, but in his Jotun form she couldn't say it. She couldn't accept him.
And who could blame her? He was hideous. He thought himself a monster. A fuel for nightmares.
The only to accept him was his mother and brother. Odin tried to show love but the trickster could see right through those pitiful lies.
A third acceptance came close with you... you weren't repulsed at the thought.
But if only you saw his full form.
You'd go screaming like Aphrodite.
Like everyone else.

Loki walked aimlessly around the endless library. His sights set on a new book to read, something to start before the holidays ended.
It was a simple task but one which ended with a sour note. And not one he enjoyed. Humming an Asgardian tune softly, he heard a moan and laugh which was too familiar to him, casting an illusion over himself, his transparent form followed the noise down a dark aisle to which he saw a horrid sight.
"Gods, you're so much better than Loki," Aphrodite kisses Ares again as he trailed his hands along her figure.
"Is that so?" Loki revealed himself, eyes holding back a flood of tears.
"Loki!" She gasps and pushes away the god of war. "This isn't-"
"What it looks like? I've heard that plenty of times, it's becoming a mundane cliché," the trickster snarls. Plastering a bored façade he looks along the shelves and spots a book he had been wanting to read.
"Schmoopie bear," Aphrodite tries to grab his attention only for him to slip away.
"Always despised that nickname," he yawns. "Enjoy your time, Aphrodite, I believe this courting is over," Loki turned on his heel and flipped open the leather faced book.
"Loki!" She calls after him as the library shushes her. "Oh, shush yourself," She growls.

"Barnes?" Bucky stopped kissing Anna's temple and looked up to see you in the doorway.
"I'll be going now, love," Anna pats his cheek before leaving. "Thanks for the Hazbin merch, N/n," you salute at the girl.
"Anything you need? I was kinda enjoying myself," Bucky combs back his braided hair which Anna had done for him.
"I know what you're hiding," you smile softly and sit next to him. "You don't have to show me... you don't have to explain, but I know you sometimes feel self conscious about it," you hesitate to lay a hand on his left one. "You have Anna, Steve and such, but I'm here too, when they can't be there, I'm just down the hall,"
"It's not really a problem you want to get involved in, L/n,"
"I'll be the judge of that," patting his hand you take into account the hardness of his skin... though it wasn't skin, was it? "See you later, Buck,"
"Thanks, Y/n, it means a lot,"
"No problem, soldier," as Anna replaced your presence as Loki entered the hall with eyes fading in and out of a red hue. They were fixated on the book yet not moving along the words. He was deep in thought and they obviously weren't the best thoughts.
Who cares if Aphrodite would go ballistic? Who cares if he just ignored you? You had to ask.
"Loki? Are you ok?" you stop in front him causing him to stumble right into you. Eyes now back to that shimmering green, you saw pain. Pain longing to be soothed.
It seemed he had gotten into the habit of ignoring you, there was a hesitancy with the way his lips twitched. Opening your arms hopefully he immediately accepted the embrace which wasn't expected.
Hugging back just as longingly, you felt his breathing become ragged. He was crying. With a single movement you led him to your room and sat him on your bed as he clung onto the spine of the book for dear life.
"Loki, what happened?" when you sat back beside him he hugged you instantly.
"Gods, Y/n, I'm such an idiot!" He hisses making you sit shocked, returning the hug.
"You are an idiot for many reasons, Lokes, but why do you think so now?"
"Aphrodite was unfaithful for who knows how long? Surprise surprise, she committed infidelity with Ares," he whimpered, waiting for a reply. Your silence prolonged too long as you sat scheming, staring off with dark thoughts. "Y-Y/n?"
"Give me a second," kissing his forehead softly you grab your daggers from your desk and burst open the door as Loki ran after you.
