Serenity's "Problematic" Past

1. Cultural Appropriation

Serenity has done photoshoots where she has worn Hanboks, Kimonos, Yukatas and Hanfus. People who are not part of the culture, international, said that she was appropriating the culture. She came out and asked how was she appropriating the culture when she works in asia and respects the culture. She went on to say that she was appreciating the culture and has always loved how Hanboks, Kimonos, Yukatas and Hanfus look on people.

2. Blackfishing

Photos of Serenity with tanned skin appeared on her social media which some people deemed as her blackfishing considering that Serenity has very pale skin naturally. She had to clear it up and say she wasn't blackfishing rather that it was a tan that only slightly darkened her skin, like it gave her more of a summertime complexion. It was only after offical photos were released showing a summer photoshoot did fans realise that her pale skin would stand out to much.

3. Racism

Serenity has been called a racist because she makes jokes about the Irish and Americans. She posted how she is confused by being called a racist to her two nationalities, she would later state that it was normal for both nationalities to make fun of themselves. She has never made fun of any other race except the two she is a part of.
She was also called racist because she had said that people of colour weren't the only type of people to be called monkeys, she had to clear up and say that back in history that the Irish were called monkeys as well as were hated by everyone.

4. Homophobic

Serenity has been called homophobic many times all because she doesn't out right say if she's straight or not. She stated that what she identifies as shouldn't matter, she supports the LGBTQ+ community and has hinted that an idol friend (Xavier) is part of the community.

5. Bullying

Before it came out that Serenity was being bullied in Angel Sins many people thought Serenity was a bully. Antis would speculate on her bullying the other members and that she bullied Krystal out of the group. Only after RMentertainment made a statement did people stop calling her a bully.

6. Cheating

A photo of Serenity and her eldest brother was shared which caused people to start speculating that she was cheating on Jaehyun. It was only cleared up by RMentertainment saying that it was her brother in the photo.

7. Being Rude

At award shows Serenity is never seen reacting or enjoying any performances. She sometimes appears bored and tired but fans have defended her and said that most idols don't react because it can cause rumours. They also have posted fancams of Serenity where she is reacting to performances and enjoying herself.
