I was disappointed when we had to leave the Fey Realm. We jumped through what looked like a normal tree to me and came out in the meadow. It was just as beautiful as always. Dean and I walked back to my house and I walked in. I went to pull him inside but then I remembered the last time I tried to do that.
"Is there any way that you will be allowed to come in?" I asked.
"You have to invite me. If you say come in, then I can walk in like any normal human could." He answered.
I looked into his eyes and said clearly, "COME IN."
He walked in and he didn't burn.
"It worked!" I squealed and hugged him tight.
"Jess? Is that you?" Mum called from the kitchen.
I walked in and she looked relieved to see me.
"It's about time you got home." She said, looking down at the dishes she was washing.
I grunted to get her attention. She looked up and saw Dean standing behind me.
"Who's this?" She asked.
"Mum, this is Dean."
"Are you two like... A thing?" She asked.
"Yes. We are dating."
"It's nice to meet you Mrs Adams." Dean said politely. "Your daughter is the most beautiful girl I've ever met and I promise I'll take good care of her."
"Good." She replied.
I hated it when she was in her bad mood."Come on, I'll show you my room." I whispered to him.
He nodded his head and then followed me up the stairs. Just before I got to my door, Em jumped in front of me.
"Hi lovebirds. I'm Em." She said looking Dean up and down. "Wow. He's even better looking from close up."
Inside my head, I laughed because that was the first thing I thought when I saw him for the first time. I wasn't about to tell her that though.
"Ugh! Please move." I said angrily.
"Ok, ok. I'll leave you guys alone." She teased.
I shoved past her and into my room, Dean following close behind me.
"This is it. My palace." I said sarcastically.
"I don't live in the palace. Just if that's what you thought. I do have my own little house in the Fey Realm." He said defensively.
I was quite embarrassed about the state of the room. There were dirty clothes on the floor and clean clothes piled up on my desk. My bed quilt was crumpled and untucked.
"It's beautiful." He said, much to my surprise.I walked over and stood at the end of my bed. He ran to me and pushed me gently onto my back on the bed. He kissed me with passion and I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer towards me. He stroked my hair as we kissed and I smiled against his lips. They were soft as usual.
"I love you." He said.
I kissed him harder and moved my hands down to his waist, pulling up his shirt. My hands travelled around his ice cold skin.
Dad opened the door and looked in.
"Oh, your ho-" he quickly shut the door when he saw Dean and I on the bed. Dean quickly got off me and stood beside the bed. I sat up and fixed my hair.
"Can I come in?" Dad asked.
"Yeah" I called.
He walked in and looked Dean up and down, grimacing.
"So, who's your friend?"
"Dean." I replied quietly.
"It's nice to meet you Mr Adams." Dean said.
"Yeah. You didn't tell me you were seeing someone." Dad said angrily.
"We decided we wanted to keep it secret for a little while." I replied firmly.
"Okay. Whatever. Are you going to stay for dinner Dean?"
Dean looked at me with a questioning expression on his face, almost like he was asking for permission. I nodded at him and he turned back to dad smiling.
"I'd love to." He replied.Dad walked off downstairs and left Dean and I alone again.
"Dean. Your eyes." I said.
His eyes were slowly turning red from right around his pupil, spiralling out towards the edges of his eyes.
"I forgot to feed before I came. I should probably go so that I don't end up hurting your family."
"Why don't you drink from me?" I suggested.
"What? I promised I would never hurt you. I'm pretty sure that biting you and sucking your blood is under the 'hurting you' category." He said.
"Well when you say it like that it sounds bad. You aren't really hurting me if you just drink until the blood flow slows down."
"And what if I can't stop?" He asked.
"You wouldn't break your promise would you?" I teased.
He smiled and looked down at his feet.
"Are you sure?" He asked worriedly.
I nodded my head and he walked up to me. He pushed my blonde ringlets over my shoulder and kissed my lips. He trailed his kisses all the way onto my neck and bit down. I felt the pull from my neck and my nerves grew. Had I made the wrong decision? He would be able to stop wouldn't he? I shook the thoughts out of my head. He would never hurt me. He pulled back and licked my wound. It instantly healed. He looked back up at me and into my eyes. His eyes had returned to their beautiful blue colour.
"We should go downstairs before your dad gets the wrong idea." He said.
I agreed and we walked downstairs, keeping our distance in front of my parents. We sat down at the table. Dean and I were on one side and Em and mum were on the other side of our rectangular table. Dad sat at the end of the table like a boss. Emily sat there for the whole dinner, smiling and sending flirtatious glances in Dean's direction. I rolled my eyes at her but Dean seemed rather amused.Dinner seemed to go on for ever and it was like an interrogation of Dean's life by my dad. They asked about Mr and Mrs Aiken and if they were still around. He told them of how his parents died and answered every question perfectly. By the end of dinner, I think they liked him enough to pass off the fact that we dated in secret for almost a month. After dinner I helped mum clean up and Dean spoke to dad some more. They seemed to get along ok, which I was happy about.
"Is he staying the night?" Mum asked.
I thought about it for a second. I wasn't sure how often he stayed in a house full of humans for a whole night.
"Do you mind if I go to his place? Please?"
She looked at me for a moment before replying.
"Fine, but you have to stay home tomorrow night... Without Dean."
I nodded my head and turned to Dean.
"Are you ready to go?" I asked.
He looked confused but played along.
"Yep. Thank you very much for dinner Mrs Adams. It was delicious." He smiled and walked towards the door.
I followed him out into the chilly breeze.
"You are coming with me?" He asked, surprised.
"I showed you my house... Now you show me yours!"--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
