"Good morning." I say as I get in Max's car.
"Morning, babe." He says, kissing me on the cheek.
"Last night was fabulous." I say as he starts to drive.
"I'm glad you liked it." He says as we come to a red light.
"Oh yeah, I have to go back to Oregon this weekend." I say, looking down at my phone.
"Why?" He asks, looking at me.
"The funeral." I say, not looking up.
"Oh, okay." He says stiffly.
"K." I say, not wanting to talk. He parks in front of the studio and I start to get out but he grabs my arm.
"Colette, we need to talk." He says and I sigh, not wanting to hear this.
"Let me guess, your manager wants you to date someone famous for publicity?" I ask and he looks surprised.
"No, I was gonna say we need to tell the press soon." He says, obviously lying.
"Whatever, Max. If you can't tell me what you really want to tell me, don't talk to me at all." I say and pull my arm away from him and go outside. He doesn't know that his manager called me this morning and discussed it with me. I walk inside and start stretching, annoyed.
"Hey, Colette?" Annabelle says, sitting down and stretching beside me. Annabelle is the best dancer in her age group. She does jazz, tap and ballet. Today is ballet for her.
"Yes, Anna?" I ask, facing her.
"Who was that boy you were talking to?" She asks and I sigh quietly.
"No one." I say and she smiles.
"Is he your boyfriend?" She asks, giggling.
"No. And just so you know, boys are icky, disgusting creatures," I say, smiling at her.
"Not Tyler." She says, proudly. Tyler's her dance partner, sometimes.
"Well, don't come crying to me when he breaks your heart, 'cause I warned ya." I say, playfully.
"He won't do that." She says as our instructor walks in.
*3 hours later*
"Bye, Annabelle." I say, walking out the studio door, waving.
"Hey, babe." Max says as I get in the door.
"Hey. Is there anything you need to talk to me about?" I ask, hoping he'll confess.
"No, why?" He asks and I sigh inaudibly.
"Alright." I say quietly. I look out the window at the buildings passing by. The people on their phones or with their briefcases.
"Colette, I'm gonna miss you." Max says and I clench my teeth.
"Max, I know your manager wants to set you up with Victoria." I say angrily.
"It wasn't my idea." He says and I sigh.
"But you agreed to do it. Your manager called me this morning. I know what's happening. And I think that we should b-break u-up." I say, my voice cracking.
"What?" Max asks, shocked.
"You heard me." I say, trying not to cry.
"Why?" Max asks and I sniffle.
"Max, you know why. I know you know. Don't pretend that you don't." I say, looking out the window.
"Please Colette, don't do this." Max begs, stopping at my building.
"My decision is final, Max. I'm sorry. Goodbye." I say, getting out of the car. I start walking towards the building but Max gets out and runs in front of me.
"Please, Colette. I need you." He says, kissing me. I pull away, crying.
"Stop, it's my decision. You need to respect that. Also, I quit." I say and he sighs.
"No, you can't do that! Please, Colette, I love you. Please." He begs, crying.
"Max, I'm leaving tomorrow and I'm not coming back. I'm going to live with my aunt in Bradford and I'm going to finish my schooling there." I say, tears streaming down my cheeks.
"Why?" He asks and I shake my head.
"You don't get it do you? I can't stay here and wait while you and Victoria kiss and perform and all that. I'm sorry, now I have to go pack." I say and turn and walk into my building, wiping my cheeks.
"Hey, Aunt Tricia, it's Colette. I called to let you know that I will be flying to Texas tomorrow and then to Bradford on Tuesday."
"Alright, sweetie. Zayn's on break this week so you'll get to see him before he leaves." She says and I hear rustling in the background and then she says "It's Colette."
"Hey, Colette, Zayn would like to talk to you." She says so I smile, unlocking the door to my apartment.
"Alright, put him on the phone." I say, tossing my keys on the table.
"Hey, love." Zayn says and I grin, sitting down.
"Hey Zayn." I reply and someone says something I can't hear completely.
"I hope you don't mind, the boys are here." He says chuckling.
"I don't mind at all." I say, smiling evilly.
"Awesome. The lads say they can't wait to meet you." He says and I laugh.
"Remember Zayn, I'm only 17 (A/N I can't remember if I put in here that she's 18 but she's not, she's 17. Sorry for any confusion!)
"HARRY, YOU CAN'T DO THAT." Zayn yells, making me flinch.
"Whatchya talking about, Zaynie?" I ask using my sweet voice.
"Oh nothing. Harry just wants to..hey!" He says once he realizes what I'm doing.
"What?" I ask still using my sweet voice.
"You'll never know what we were talking about." He says and I pout even though he can't see me.
"Why not?!" I ask angrily.
"Because it's none of your business." He says and I groan.
"Please Zaynie. PPLLEEAASSEE!!!!" I say really loudly.
"No, now we have to go. See you Tuesday, babe." He says and I hear shuffling and then Aunt T is on the phone again.
"Hey, Colette, I gotta run the boys somewhere. I'll talk to you later, yeah?" She asks and I nod, forgetting she can't see me.
"Yeah." I reply, smiling.
"Alright, see you Tuesday. Love ya." She says.
"Love you too." I reply, hanging up. I walk into my room to start packing everything up. By the time I'm finished with packing my clothes I open my big hard shell suitcase and start putting my shoes, which are in containers, into it. I grab my big duffel bag and put the last couple pair of shoes in and then go and get all my toiletries, putting them in. When I'm finished I go downstairs and walk to Subway. I'm sitting there, eating my sandwich when Adam walks in.
