and {A/N Hey guys! This isn't a chapter...Sorry! It's something that I want you guys to read. I wrote it for my English class and turned it in, keeping the extra copy I had written. Both my mom and grandma read this and both were brought to tears. It is sad, but that's not why I'm posting it. I'm posting it because I'm proud of it and you guys haven't really read anything but my fanfics..So here it is!
"Mommy, I'm gonna be a doctor!" John says, walking into the room, wearing a doctors costume. John's mother says nothing, just continues ironing John's clothes. This was the sixth time in six years that he had changed his mind.
"Mom, I'm gonna be a professional baseball player." John says, now at the age of fourteen. He stomps his cleats off, smiling as mud falls off. John's mother doesn't say a word, jut goes back to folding clothes. This was the forty-eighth time John had changed his mind, and the sixth he had imagined he would play a professional sport.
"Mom, I'm gonna be a fireman. Gotta go sign up for classes. See you later." A now sixteen year old John says, walking out the door, keys in hand. This was the fiftieth time John had changed his mind, the second time head signed up for classes. John's mom still didn't reply, just watched her son drive away.
"Mom, I'm going to major in engineering and building." John says, holding up an acceptance letter to the University of California. John's mom hugs her son, tears welling up in her eyes, unable to tell her son the horrible news. This was the fifty-second time John had changed his mind and the sixth acceptance letter he'd gotten.
"Mom, I'm a lawyer now. I'm all grown up." John whispers, hovering over his mothers casket. The cancer and guilt, of not telling her only son, ate away a her until one day there was nothing left. John's mother would never know that her son graduated as Valedictorian of his class.
And that was the essay. I know it seems short, partly cause it is, also cause I made it longer before I turned it it. Hope you enjoyed! (:
