The room I'm in stinks. It smells of rotten fish and something else I can't place. It's dark but, I may just have a blindfold on. I hear rustling, lots of rustling, but I can't speak. It feels like there is something in my mouth but I can't tell.

"Are you hungry?" One of the guys holding me captives asks. I nod, knowing this is the nicer one.

"Here you go." He says, taking whatever was in my mouth out and putting a pop-tart in instead.

I make a sound, trying to say thanks, but give up right before he puts the thing back in my mouth

He bends down and kisses me on the cheek. He always does that, and I always let him, because if I don't I'll get hurt. I tried the first night I was here. He told the mean guy and the mean guy did things to me. Things I didn't like. I also tried to escpae, a while after that, but I just busted up my bad arm and leg, and got the things done to me again.

He leaves and once again, I'm alone, at least I think I am. I'm not sure how many days I've been here, or how many people have touched me, or if anyone knows if I'm gone.

I hear talking, it sounds like two of the guys that have talked to me. I sit and listen, barely able to hear them.

"They haven't paid ransom yet." One says and I know by his commanding voice that it's the mean one.

"We have to let her go. Have you looked at her? She's pale, thin and frankly looks like she's been on drugs. We promised we'd take good care of her. So why aren't we?" Nice One asks and I blink, confused.

"Bcause it's been a week since the drop off time and we don't have a dime. Our promise ended then." Mean One said and i flinched, thinking of Max, pacing the floor of the hospital, to just let them bhave me because he doesn't want to pay some stupid ransom money.

"Why can't we let her go? She cries all the time, she flinches when one of us speaks to her, she's terrified." I feel ashamed at how true this statement is. I cry until I pass out most of the time, and whenever I hear the door open I flinch, not knowing which one it is.

"Because she'd turn us in." Mean One says and I hear Nice One scoff.

"She hasn't seen our faces, dipstick, and besides all we have to do is drop her off at her apartment complex and we can hightail it outta there, faster than a roadrunner." Nice One says and I nod, liking that suggestion.

"Fine, one more night, and we'll let her go." Mean One says and then walks away, only to return a few minutes later.

"Here." He says "Go in there and fix her up."

I sit there, confused as the door opens and I automatically flinch, scared, wondering who it is.

"Hey, it's okay, I'm just gonna brush you hair, change your clothes, that kind of stuff." Nice One says and I relax as I hear  his footsteps beside and then behind me and I feel the gentle tug of the hairbrush as he runs through my greasy, tangled hair.

Max's POV

"Where is she?" I mus out loud, pacing the floor once again.

"I don't know Max, but if you don't sit down I'll have someone come knock you out." The FBI agent, Mark, says, glaring at me. I quickly sit down, choosing instead to bite my nails.

"Look, we've got a pretty good lead on her, but it will take more time." Mark says, shuffling through some papers.

"We don't have time. She could be dead right now and we wouldn't even know." I argue and he shoots me another glare.

"Be optimistic, not pessimistic." He says, shuffling through some more papers.

His phone starts ringing and immediately he grabs it, putting in a page to trace the call.

"She will be at her apartment complex by midnight, don't try to follow us." The voice says and Mark writes it all down, setting the phone down as the line goes dead.

"They're bringing her back?" I ask and he nods, a grin on his face.

"I can't wait to tell her the news!" He says, getting up and opening the door to go tell everyone else.

I run through the door, already dialing Carlos' number and putting it up to my ear as it start ringing.

"She's coming back, buddy!" I yell, running and hopping around excitedly.

"Seriously?!" He asks and then yells something in Spanish to his wife who grabs the phone.

"Is it true?" She asks and I can hear the tears in her voice.

"Yes, Nik, it's true." I say and then listen as she bursts into sobs, her husband comforting her.

"Max, we'll see you later. Take care." He says and then hangs up and I run outside and to my car, getting in and driving to her apartment to get everything ready.

11:50 P.M.

I'm sitting inside the lobby, waiting for Colette to come so the FBI can get the guys who took her. The second I see her I'm going to hug her, tell her I was so worried and that I am so sorry I couldn't get the ransom money in time.

I freeze asa black car pulls up, stops and one really muscly guy steps out, opening the rear car door and pulling Colette out, throwing her on the sidewalk, and then getting back in and speeding off. I run out to her, to see if she's okay but all I see is the dark blood pooling around her leg. I look at her and she smiles weakly at me.

I pull out my phone, dialing Mark's number immediately.

"We have a problem." I say quickly, examining her arm and legs.

"What kind of problem?" He asks and I frown deeply.

"Colette needs to go to the hospital, she's losing a lot of blood." I say and he curses.

"I'll be there in a sec." He says and the line goes dead so I look down at Colette, who's watching me, frowning.

"What's wrong?" She mouths, confused

"Your bleeding, badly." I say and she gives me the confused look.

"Where?" Se mouths again as Mark comes running up.

"Your leg." I say as I hear sirens wailing.

"I can't feel my legs." Her lips form the words but nothing comes out. and my eyes go wide. Mark curses again and then Colette sighs and closes her eyes.

"Colette, you can't go to sleep." Mark says shaking her.

She nods her head and I lean close to her.

"Please, stay awake. For me?" I ask, kissing her lightly. She smiles and gives the slightest nod, opening her eyes to look at me. I find her hand and hold it, just looking at her.

"I missed you." She chokes out, coughing after each word, tears coming out of her eyes afterwards, so I just lay there beside her and keep her quiet as the paramedics come, and then when they put her in the ambulance I kiss her and whisper "I missed you more." And then I'm alone.

{I know I said it'd be long, but I figure this is a good place to stop. Not saying I won't go back and add more, but I like it and it's one of my best chapters(: Uh yeah, so my grandma told me I should send Ellen an e-mail about my writing, but I don't know. Should I?
