As the last bell rings kids flood the hall ready to see their friends and get out of school for summer. Leah walks out of class and meets up with Stan, their classes are right across the hall from each other. They then run up behind the rest of the losers.
"Wait up! You guys!" Stan yells to get their attention. Once they catch up, they walk in the line that they created, Leah next to Richie.
"Hey Stan, what happens at the Bar Mitzvah, anyways? Ed says they slice the t-tip of your d-d-ick off." Bill stutters out. Richie looks over at Leah and is met with a confused expression from her. Richie turns back to the group with a smirk to make one of his signature trashmouth quotes.
"Yeah, and I think the rabbi's gonna pull down your pants, turn to the crowd, and go 'WHERE'S THE BEEF?!'" All of the boys chuckle, while Leah feels uncomfortable, she would rather not talk about this.
"At the Bar Mitzvah, I read from the Torah, and then I make a speech and suddenly I become a man." Stan explains to the group. Leah is no longer uncomfortable because that actually sounds normal compared to what Bill suggested.
"I could think of funner ways to become a man." Richie says. Leah looks over at him.
"More fun.." she mumbles. She was about to say it louder but Stan said it before her.
"More fun, you mean." The group keeps walking down the hall when they see the Bowers Gang eyeing them.
"Oh, shit." Richie says. Leah turns her head away from them, hoping to not get harassed by Henry. Once they've successfully passed the bullies, Leah looks back at them and Patrick licks his lips menacingly. Leah turns back to the losers and gets whole body shivers.
"Think they'll sign my yearbook? 'Dear Richie, sorry for taking a hot, steamy dump in your backpack last March. Have a good summer!'" Richie jokes. The losers walk into the stairwell and Stan gets shoved into by Greta, the other bully in the school. Leah was behind Stan so he collided into her.
"Oh, I'm sorry." Stan apologizes to her.
""Oh, you're all good. Greta's a bitch." Leah reassures Stan with a smile. She looks back and sees Greta walking into the bathroom, but thinks nothing of it. They all keep walking until they are outside by the trashcans.
They walk up to them and the boys start pouring all their stuff into the trashcans, but Leah kept everything.
"Best. feeling. ever." Stan says while dumping his stuff out.
"Yeah? Try tickling your pickle for the first time." Richie says and they all finish pouring their school stuff out. Leah's nose scrunches up.
"Gross, Rich." Richie blushes at the nickname that Leah gave to him. Meanwhile, all of the boys seemed unfazed at the comment. They probably were used to it by now, but Leah was not.
"Hey. What do you guys want to do tomorrow?" Eddie comments, ignoring what Richie just said.
"Start my training." Richie says to Eddie while fixing his glasses. Leah looks at him confused.
"Wha-what training?" Eddie vocalizes the thought in Leah's head.
"Street Fighter." Oh. Leah surprisingly knew what that was. She's biked past the arcade and almost every time she has, Richie would be there. Eyes glued to the screen. Sometimes one of the Losers would be standing behind him staring blankly at the screen, waiting for Richie to finish. Every now and then though, they would try to play with Richie. Since Richie was was more experienced, the other kid would always lose. And every time he won, he would do a little victory dance, and Leah thought that was adorable. Leah's thoughts were cut short by Eddie.
"Is that how you want to spend your summer? Inside of an arcade?"
"Beats spending it inside of your mother, OHHH!" Richie raises his hand up for Stan to high-five him, but Leah shoves his hand down. He blushes slightly at the interaction.
"What if we go to the quarry?" Stan interjects, once again ignoring Richie's comment. Eddie shrugs, not really caring. Richie looks over at Leah.
"What do you wanna do, Leah?" Richie asks Leah.
"Oh, I don't really care. We can do whatever. It's you guys' decision." Leah responds.
"Guys, we have the b-b-b-barrens." Bill says to the group. Leah is confused at first then realizes Georgie. Bill's brother. He disappeared in October of 1988 and Bill is convinced that he is somewhere still out there.
Stan nods while Eddie looks over at someone.
"Right." Stan says sympathetically. Leah looks over to where Eddie is looking and sees someone crying and looking distressed at the school.
"Betty Ripsom's mom." By this time, all of the group was looking over to her. Leah leans over to Richie.
"Isn't she the girl that went missing?" She whispers to him.
"Yeah." He responds back.
"Is she really expecting to see her coming out of that school?" Stan questions.
"I don't know. It's as if Betty Ripsom's been hiding in Home Ec for the last few weeks." Eddie responds.
"Think they'll actually find her?" Stan says back, worried. Leah has a worried expression on her face.
"Sure. In a ditch, all decomposed, covered in worms and maggots, smelling like Eddie's moms underwear." Richie says that and looks at Eddie. Leah looks at Richie with a disgusted face.
"Shut up.." Eddie and Leah say at the same time and look at each other and smile.
"That's frickin disgusting." Eddie continues.
"Sh-she's not dead. She's m-m-mi-missing." Bill says to Richie. They turn to each other.
"Sorry Bill. She's missing." Richie says while fixing his glasses. Eddie and Leah look to the ground. They all start walking away from the trashcans. She decided to walk with Eddie.
"Ya know the barrens aren't that bad. Who doesn't love splashing around in shitty water-" Richie was cut off by someone pulling his backpack back and Richie slammed against Stan, onto the ground.
A/N sorry for the lowkey cliffhanger, the chapter was getting longer than the others so I decided to stop it :)
