Context/prompt: I was sitting in my AP lit class and decided to write a poem, it's about quarantine.

In the darkness

my soul seemingly stopped

memories of friendships and hugs

fill my every thought

spread eagle on my bed

as I allow sleep to take me

I pray that soon they'll say

we'll be going back to school next week

supposed to be listening

But my head is in the clouds

wondering if I'll ever get in trouble

for not paying attention again

staring at the screen

my soul seemingly frozen

wishing with all I am

to sing amongst a group again

sat inside, upon my bed

haven't left my room more than twice in ten days

wondering if ever again

will I go downtown to see a movie with my friends

It's been almost a year

and still I am waiting

for the day to come

when I can hug the rest of my family
