Before
I trudge through the woods, thick brown mud clings to my boots refusing to let go. "Please stay" her voice echoes through my head making me think twice about what I was about I do.
"I'll be back soon" i promised, "I'll be careful." I hated lying to her, but we wouldn't be here if I didn't.
Moans of nearby walkers snap me back to reality, many of them glance in my direction, hungry and ruthless they follow my trail. I'm quicker then most Of them but I speed up my pace anyway. I can't believe I'm about to do this, I shouldn't I should turn back, but then again if I didn't get the supplies we wouldn't survive. I can't let her die, she's all I have left.
I reach the prison fence, before I came near the grounds I covered myself in walker guts, so I walk unnoticed. The moon shines onto the fence, reflecting the fences shadows onto the ground. No ones around so I undo the wire that fixes the fence together and climb inside.
"Please don't go Charlie" once again her voice enters my mind, I shake my head,
"I have to do this, I'll be fine." I reach the crop yard and pull out a fabric bag I keep in my pocket. Breathing heavily, my sweaty palms fumble over the vegetables, I need to get out of here fast, I finish stuffing them into the bag and start to head back to the fence.
"HEY" a voice shouts from a guard tower, this triggers many other voices and they make their way outside. I start to run, these people are dangerous, the governor warned me about them back when I was in Woodbury. My lungs burn and I pant, trying to catch my breath.
"STOP AND TURN AROUND" another one of the group shouts. Of course I don't stop running, if they got to me they could kill me for all I know. A sharp pain shoots up my leg and I collapse to the ground. Groaning from the fall, I feel my leg, a wound the size of my fist has stuck itself onto my calf.
They shot me, The governor warned me to be cautious around them and if possibly to stay away from them. I should never have come here. She warned me and I didn't listen.
The people surround me, their guns pointed in my face. "Shit" I mumble, there was no point keeping my mouth shut now."What were you doing at the crop yard?" The man with stubble asks me.
"Oh you know I was just having a party" I bite my tongue, be cautious Charlie I think, these people are dangerous. "I was gathering crops" I confess, my leg throbs and It pains me to talk.
"How do you know about this place, did someone tell you about us?" Once again the man with the stubble speaks. I'm guessing he's the leader of the group since he won't let anyone else have a say.
"Why would I tell you?" The last of my sentence comes out in a whisper since my injury is to painful to ingnore.
"Tell us or I swear to god I'll kill you" this time a man with a crossbow speaks. I hesitate before I speak.
"The governor he warned me about you he told me tha-" I get interrupted by a young boy, he seems to be my sisters age.
"You worked for the governor?" The words come out angry, wow even the teenagers here seem to be ruthless.
"He was right to launch an attack on you" I try to keep my mouth shut but the words shoot out of my mouth before I can process them. "You are all ruthless little pri-"
"Get him up" the leader shouts, a girl and a guy that looks to be Korean yank me up, pain shoots up my leg and I cry out, " you son of a bitch, how dare you attack our prison, I'm guessing the governor sent you to spy on us huh?" Ohh the leader has quite a temper, it reminds me of my sister.
"No he didn't I was just getting the crops so I coul-"
"You have no right to be here, we should just kill you now!" If they killed me I would break my promise to her, she wouldn't have anyone left to look after her, I won't let that happen, I won't abandon her, not again.
"Please please don't I have a sister I need to look after please." They all cock there head considering what I had just said. After what seems like an eternity the leader speaks.
"We let you go on one condition, you leave us alone and don't come back."
"Deal, deal thank you" my words come out breathless and I struggle to breath.
"Your not seriously letting him go right? He killed people here how dare yo-"
"STOP, stop as long as he doesn't bother is he can go"
"Bu-"
"We're letting him go okay" the girl speaks, if I didn't see that she had an engagement ring on I would try and flirt with her.
"Thank you, t-thank you" they start to unwrap the wire, I put my arm through and
BANGI drop to the floor and cry out in pain, the young boy puts his gun back in his holster and looks at me, the others are to stunned to shout at him. Instead of feeling pain I feel cold, numb and light. My eyes feel heavy. Am I dying? is this what it's like to die? My eyes start to close and the last thing I hear is the leaders voice "get back inside Carl" he says and then I'm gone.
