Carl drops me on a sofa when we are back in the church. I yelp as I hit the cushions and He starts to walk out the room. "Wait!" I call, I start to stand up but I fall back since my whole body's freezing from the lake water. Carl stops and turns around so he's facing me.

"I was actually leaving so you could get changed but if you want some help with undressing, I'll gladly lend a hand." He smirks.

"As much as I'm tempted by your offer, I'll pass." I throw a cushion at him, he dodges it and I pout.

He bows and then says "as you wish my lady." He makes his way out the room, leaving me alone on the sofa.

I walk over to the a chest of draws and look for something to wear. I rummage for about ten minutes until see something that I would actually look decent in.

Well lets face it, with a face like this, I never look decent in anything.

Picking it up, I throw the baggy red flannel Over my head and button it up to the top. I empty my water out of my boots and out take my jeans off. Shit. I left my other pair of black jeans in Carls room. I couldn't go knocking on his door with just a shirt on. yes it came down to my mid thigh but i would look super slutty if I turned up at his door, looking like this.

I finally make a decision, I tug the shirt as low as it will go and I make my way to A separate room were Carl is getting changed. I hesitate before knocking, would he think I was leading him on? We were both fourteen I mean we wouldn't do anything.

My hand slams against the wood and the handle twists. It opens revealing a shirtless Carl. I stare open mouthed at him, I don't know what to say. "Can I help you?" He says, looking me up and down smiling, he leans against the door frame with his arms crossed over his bare chest. I self consciously tug down the flannel shirt.

"I uh came t-to ask I-if you had my um other pair of black uh um.." Im so distracted by Carl that I don't know what to say next.

"Your black skinny jeans?" He asks. I gulp, Carl walks to the corner of the room and gets them off his chair. He throws them at me and I catch them, I nod not sure where to look. I put them on, and button them up quickly.

I stare open mouthed at him and and can't stop myself from breathing heavily.

"You okay there?" He smirks, obviously knowing that I was shocked by his body.

God I can't explain how much I want to be pressed up against his bare chest. Can't explain how much I want his hands to tangle in my hair, how much I want him to kiss me again and again.

Concentrate!

I shake my head and laugh slightly, I start to walk away, back towards my room. "Hey April wait up!" He shouts, I immediately stop and turn around. He bends down and picks something off the ground. "This fell out the pocket." he hands a crumpled bit of paper to me and I unfold It. My eyes start to water, on the paper was a picture of me and Charlie laughing. I remember the exact day it was taken.

It was a Tuesday Charlie was thirteen, making me nine. It was the day we both found out that we were getting a dog and we squealed. It was one of the best days of my life.

"Thanks." I mutter, tears escape my eyes and run down my cheeks, I fold the piece of paper and put it in my back pocket. I turn around and start to walk away again, but Carl grabs my wrist and pulls me back. He puts his hands on my face and wipes away the tears with his thumbs, I start sobbing and he embraces me in a hug, his bare chest touching my shirt, Carl puts his head on top of mine and and brushes my hair with his fingers.

"It's okay, I'm here." He whispers over and over again. I look up at him and brush my hair out of my face.

"I miss him so much," I whimper, "why would someone kill him." Carl pulls me closer to him and and I swear I can hear him sobbing.

"I don't know." He says. I eventually pull away, and start towards my bedroom again. The last thing I see is Carl putting his head in his hands before I shut the door.

What the hell is this boy hiding from me?
