"April? April? Are you alright?" Adrian added.
You could tell he was worried, April was shocked, she had no idea he had it in him. She didn't really know the guy but based on their previous conversation he didn't quite seem to care.
"Uh yeah yeah, I- I'm okay." April was trembling.
After making sure she was okay, Adrian immediately called hospital security, who took Michael out of the room while Adrian explained to them what had happened.
April was in bed, not over it still. She didn't even want to imagine what could have happened if Adrian hadn't stepped in, in time.
When security left, April began blabbering out of stress.
"Uh Adrian, thank you, really, I know you don't even like me as a person but that was- thanks. If you hadn't came in when you did-" Adrian cuts her off.
-"Look, no girl, no person, deserves to be treated like that. And besides I never said I didn't like you as a person." He smiles "You're cool, just a little too talkative for my type. Don't even mention it I was just trying to help."
April smiled and he almost did so as well.
They both decide to sleep and forget this ever happened.
The sun was up and so was Adrian. April was still asleep, he couldn't help but notice how peaceful she looked.
As he was gazing at her, he notices something under her bed, it was none other than his favorite book that he had read about 9 times and was going at it for the 10th now.
He tried to get down there and grab it very slowly, trying his best not to wake April up, but eventually knocked his head trying to get out.
April was now wide awake.
"Adrian! What are doing under my bed?" this definitely was the weirdest thing April had ever woken up to.
"Uh... Well the real question is why was my book under there?" there was a sort of panic logged somewhere in his throat.
April had totally forgotten she had kept it there until now.
"Um... Well I was bored and the book was just there and well you know the rest..."
-"Next time, if you want to read any of my books just ask, there's no need for you to rob Me." he let her know letting out a provocative smile.
"Robbing you? NOO I was going to give it back, well actually put it back when you weren't looking, same intentions."
They were both silent now Adrian didn't bother adding another words.
"By the way, I loved your book; the first few chapters were breathtaking!" a blush of roses takes over her face. "The fact that two passionate lovers can easily become strangers within a period of time really made me wonder."
"Made you wonder what exactly?" Adrian seemed interested in talking now.
April sat up and crossed her legs.
"Is love truly real? Or is it just a chemical reaction to a boost of adrenaline that simply fades away?"
"You've got quite the imagination there." he mocked her as she rolled her eyes, unbothered she continued.
"That book is the result of such imagination it really made-." April cuts herself off noticing a tray of food laying on the table. "Who's all that food for?"
"You." he simply says.
"Why did you get me food?" she was shocked to say the least.
"Because you got shaken up last night it's the decent this to do." again seeming very unbothered barely looking April in the eye. "Besides food will shut you up for a few minutes, I must admit I need the quiet." he says opening one of his books and laying down facing the opposite side.
-"Wow so you're being nice to me. Admit it you do want us to get along." April teases.
"I'm not admitting to anything, eat your food and thank me later." he starts getting pissed or at least he was acting as so.
"Uh Adrian, one last thing." she says.
"What!" he turns around aggressively.
"I can't get up, surgery and all." April says as galling as possible.
Adrian shuts his book and grabs the tray placing it right next to her as his shoot a provocative smile at her.
"Thank you." April continued, loving the fact that she had just pissed him off.
Then he went to his side of the room and resumed reading.
April could not believe how thoughtful and annoying one person could be.
A few minutes later, Lavender bursts into the room, she was freaking out.
Both Adrian and April jump out of their beds and run to her direction.
"Lavender, what's wrong?" April asks instantly, forcing herself out of bed fighting the pain.
"Who is this person?" Lavender asks pointing at Adrian.
"This is Adrian, my roommate. And Adrian, this is Lavender, my friend." April replies.
"Wow he's cute." Lavender exclaims flirtatiously.
"Lavender! Focus, what's wrong!?" April snaps her out of it.
Lavender shakes her head and yells.
"I'm freaking out! They just found lungs for Lily, she's in surgery right now and well, what if she doesn't make it? She's my best friend, April what can I do? April tell me what to do!" she was completely out of breath.
April waved at Adrian and mouthed to him to go and get Lavender a cup of water, and he immediately did so, Lavender scared him in a weird way.
"Hey, hey Lavender, don't worry, Lily is strong she'll make it out just fine, I mean BRAND NEW LUNGS, they found her lungs, isn't that amazing!" April reassured her.
"Yeah you're right. It is good news but surgeries fail sometimes. Plus I think I just forgot how to breath." Lavender started taking really heavy and strong breaths.
"Can you really forget how to breath though?" Adrian says in a sarcastic tone.
"Adrian!" April yells and out staring down at him.
"SORRY." Adrian mouths back smiling.
After sitting Lavender down and calming her, they tried to change the subject and tell her about last night, though April didn't love to talk about it, but she had to distract her somehow.
"That piece of shit- wait-wait- he actually said that! The audacity that man has is unreal if I ever see him I'm going to give him a piece of my mind!" she was dead serious, Adrian was terrified.
They kept on talking, Adrian even joined in on the conversation, they were trying to keep her as distracted as humanly possible.
April was worried herself, she knew what surgeries were like, but she couldn't be selfish about this now, she needed to be there for Lavender.
The clock kept ticking, the three of them even forgot to eat lunch, April couldn't eat especially after that big breakfast in the morning.
They switched rooms and went to wait with Lily's family. Finally the OR doors opened and the doctor came out...
