April found herself once again with a blurry vision, she could only hear Adrian's terrified fainted screams, next thing she knows, she finds herself being rolled in to the hospital in the biggest hurry Adrian holding her hand the entire time.
She faintly opens her eyes for a moment, her face as pale as ever, to find Adrian trying to keep up with the doctors as they're taking her to the OR. Tears running through her love's eyes, she wants to open her mouth and say something but she is unable to do so. She wants to tell him that she not only loves him, but that she burns for him, she wants to hold him tight and tell him it'll all be okay, but she couldn't.
" Ace, Ace, I love you more than anything and anyone, you have to pull through if not for you than you have to do it for me, I'm begging you." Adrian's trembling voice whispered to her.
Again, she wants to speak, but before she could doctors tell Adrian that this is as far he can go, and April's vision turns black...
Adrian's side:
Adrian had had it with waiting rooms, he was done with having to always wonder what was going on behind those doors, minutes felt like hours and hours felt like days, his head buried in between his hands, he was crying more than he ever had before, this time it felt like it was the end.
April's parents sat next to him, April's mom's hand wrapped around Adrian's shoulder, he thought they hated him, but he felt comfort in that moment.
Millions of thoughts were running through his brain and none of them were good ones. He couldn't loose April just yet, they still had forever ahead of them, they were supposed to walk out of those hospital doors together and never look back, but could they still? Time could only tell...
Adrian was never happy, he always felt buried under his father's shadow, he never felt loved by anyone other than his late mother, until April came around. But April, is a different sort of love, the kind that consumes your entire being and never lets go, the pure kind, the sweet and caring kind. She is everything to him, she is the reason he was hanging on to life, her and only her. Adrian knew that April wasn't the world, but she was everything that made his world wonderful...
The OR doors dramatically opened, a doctor came out ripping the mask of his face with anger and proceeded to walk towards Adrian and April's family. Adrian's heart was racing and he couldn't feel his legs, April's mom gently caressing his shoulder he was terribly shaken.
" The surgery was going very well at first, but when we got a head CT which we should have gotten when April had her first fainting episode, we found heavy bleeding in her brain which we tried to control in the operating room, but there were many complications during the surgery, April even flatlined for a moment, but we were able to resuscitate her, in the mean time the bleeding in her brain got too severe and I am very sorry to inform you, that April is brain dead and will most likely be in a coma for the rest of her life, unless a miracle happens and she wakes up, we will keep her on life support for as long as the parents want and you are able to take her off of the ventilators whenever you would feel is time." The doctor announced.
April's dad takes April's mom in his arms both of them in tears. Adrian was in complete disbelief, his entire body dropped to the floor, he was now down on his knees, his heart aching, he let out a terrible agonizing scream and got up aggressively holding the doctor by his shirt.
" When she fainted, I told you to get her tests! You could have prevented all of this!" Adrian yelled shivering, until security pulled him away.
He ran outside, pacing right and left, he wanted to yell, scream, cry he had never felt such horrible pain. She's not completely gone, she could come back, right? Adrian couldn't bring himself to go back inside, he was now yelling, his chest hurt, his entire body was in pain, he missed her already. Tears running down his face, he was cracking his knuckles in stress, he was in terrible disbelief, he felt like killing someone, he was now once again all alone, he couldn't take it anymore, his pain was overwhelming. He was sitting outside in the freezing cold, in the rain, pouring his heart out, sobbing. The love of his life got taken away from him, because of a stupid mistake, life was unfair, he realize life wasn't a gift giving machine, it was in fact a dark and lonely place where only the strong survive.
2 weeks later:
April's parent's had refused to take April off life support, they couldn't bear the thought of loosing their girl again, Adrian played a big part in that conversation, he couldn't loose her either and besides even if there was a slight chance the love of his life was going to wake up he was going to take it. Adrian was still in denial, he woke up every day and added a fresh bouquet of Lilies next to April's bed and sat down next to her and read to her their favorite book countless amount of times, and when he was done he would bring his chair a little closer to her and caress her hair just like she did his when he was hurt, it was the only way Adrian was able to cope with the situation, even when he was discharged from the hospital he kept coming every day and spending it with April, he kept telling her everything, just like he did before and he knew she could hear him, the difference was that her eyes were always closed and that she couldn't answer his questions or comment on his stories, he missed her dark blue eyes and her laugh, he missed the voice he fell in love with and the spirit of the girl he loved, she was still there, but Adrian still felt like he was morning her loss.
One day as Adrian was calmly reading to his girlfriend a tall old man accompanied by his daughter walks inside, it was his father and sister, he didn't feel like seeing them.
" Hello son." his dad began.
" What do you want from me?" Adrian replies in a dry tone.
" Oh nothing son, we're here to check up on you."
" Check up on me nice, why don't you just cut the crap and tell me why you're really here." Adrian was done with his father.
" Okay fine, you are cooping in a very unhealthy way, that girl is far gone son, you need to move on with your life and build a career for yourself, I'll then find you a nice lady to fill the whole inside your heart." his father adds.
" You really are heartless, I don't want anything from you, you never loved me, no one ever did, April was the only one who was ever there for me my entire life and she accepted me for who I am, she promised me that if it were me in that bed that she would hold my hand forever, so now I'm going to hold hers for as long as it takes, now please go and let me stroke my girlfriend's hair without some ass telling me I should see other girls, when she's not even dead yet! Adrian finally yells out.
-" But son-."
-" GET OUT." Adrian screams...
Adrian's pov:
It was the end of the week, Adrian sat down like the usual and narrated everything that was happening around them to April:
Your parents are hurting Ace, I'm hurting, I know you need your rest, take your time I'll always be waiting. Lavender and Lily come by every day to check up on you, Lily's lungs are doing great and Lavender is almost completely cancer free, they both miss you terribly...
Jayden comes by occasionally, she's not doing so good Ace, after loosing her dad then Lexie and finally you I think she lost all hope, I can tell from the eyebags under her eyes and the way she talks to you, I think she's on some sort of medication her therapist suggested her, I'm trying to help her because I know that that is what you would have wanted me to do. But she's hurting and she's tired and she could really use some great news right now.
As for Christopher he dropped by two times and mentioned to me how much your talk with him helped him process Lexie's passing and how much he wishes he could repay you, he's doing better but he's still shaken up.
See that's the thing Ace, you were always there for everyone, especially me. God, how much I miss your voice, I miss your hugs and cuddles and miss your cute kisses, what I'm trying to say Ace, is that you changed my life more than you know, you didn't make me want to live you, you made me love living. You were the blood pumping inside my veins and I know your heart is still beating but it is not the same, Ace, you turned my life upside down. I had no idea you could ever love someone like this before I met you, you're present in every breath I take, and I promise you that if you need forever to wake up that's how long I'll be sitting right here holding your hand.
I'll always love you, forever and always...
