April sat waiting, she waited impatiently for Adrian to come out of that torturous chamber, the scariest thoughts running through her mind.

She truly believed he was her other half.

She could survive without him, but surviving is not the same as living.

Besides, she would never want to event know what rock bottom tastes like, because according to her, she could not go any lower than this.

She sat on his bed, his favorite book in hand, unable to read. Her eyes blurred by an unstoppable storm feeling helpless and isolated from the world around her.

Lavender knocks and enters.

"Hey April, I just heard what happened, I'm so sorry, Lily wanted to come but the doctors wouldn't let her out of her room, there was a lot of yelling there for a second." she lets out a calm laugh.

April doesn't answer quickly wrapping her arms around her dear friend.

"I yelled at him, that was our last conversation, he can't die, he won't die right?" her entire body was shivering.

"I'm not going to lie to you, we know more than anyone else that anything could happen behind those doors. I can't give you false hope in clear conscience. So we'll just both take a deep breath and sit silently together." Lavender's words were somewhat comforting in a way, and so they did.

April faked a smile and crossed her legs holding the book to her chest feeling her abnormal heartbeat through its pages. The entire process was taking longer than April could handle mentally.

She got up and grabbed the shirt Adrian left laying on the couch, not even noticing it wasn't hers and rushed to the waiting room, his dad and his sister weren't even there.

She couldn't sit still, she kept pacing back and forth until the doors of that operating room were opened and the doctor came out, ripping his mask off.

April's heart dropped to the ground, that can't be good.

"Are you Adrian's family?" he asks.

"No, they're not here, I- I'm his girlfriend."

"Well I suppose I should tell you that your boyfriend went through a very tough surgery." to his words April's face darkened. "He had severe bleeding in his abdomen, but he pulled through, we expect a full recovery-"

April never let him continue, doctors blabber a lot. She didn't even thank him, ran outside to the nearest tree and threw up out of relief.

Adrian was brought back to their room, he was awake, but April didn't dare come inside, peaking through the glass he noticed she was there and waved at her to come in.

She slowly opens the door and starts talking not even giving him a chance to speak up first.

"Listen, first of all I am sorry I yelled at you, it was your choice and I had no right to do that, I totally disrespected your privacy and-"

He stops her.

"Is that my shirt, are you stealing from me again Ace?" he tilts his head making a very inconvenient sarcastic comment.

"No." she looks down and notices it was his. "I mean yes- but I didn't- what I'm trying to say is- Damn it Adrian!"

"I make you nervous." he smirks.

"Adrian shut up! I was trying to tell you that I couldn't bare the thought of losing you because I love you but you had to make it so hard to be nice to-"she yells and then stops realizing what she had said.

Without adding another word he mouths for her to come and lay next to him.

"I love you more April Miller." He could barely let a word out, but he had to say it back and when she smiled he knew it was worth every letter.

"I'm only forgiving you for calling me a thief because you're hurt, now if you don't mind your highness-"she mocks him. "I'm going to lay here and stroke your hair because that's what I would want someone to do for me if I were hurt." she says genuinely now.

He drowns in her eyes as she caresses his hair, he could not be more in love with that girl.

No human is perfect, but to him she was.

She then placed her head on his chest, the sound of his heartbeat reassured her. He's still here and he's not going anywhere.

Later on April grabs a book and says.

"It's my turn to take care of you now."

He grabs her chin and pulls her face down to his level and stars deeply into her eyes gently kissing her lips and then groans in pain, April stops instantly.

"Oh my God, what did I do?"

"It's okay it was worth it." his face lit up regardless of his pain.

She kept reading to him until he fell asleep and then gently laid next to him wrapping her arm around his waist and fell asleep.

He woke up the next morning and found April standing straight in front of him with the biggest grin on her face.

He sat up his eyes barely opened: "Ace?"

She moved aside and on his bed tray the largest breakfast, with a single yellow rose exactly like the breakfast he served her in the past, adding a large book to the tray.

-"April this is amazing." He declared.

She opened her arms and ran to him and carefully gave him a hug. Neither one wanted to let go, they felt the safest in one another's arms.

April brought the tray closer to him and noticed that she forgot to bring him eggs so she immediately gets up to go get them.

Her grabs her hand and pulls her close.

"Where are you going?"

"I forgot the eggs." she chuckles.

"It's okay this is way more than enough stay." he replied.

"No, no it needs to be perfect."

Before she could leave he pulls her in a little closer and brushes her lips with a kiss.

She ran through the waiting room to get to the cafeteria, to her surprise a familiar ginger was in the room.

"Jayden? What are doing here?" she says anxious.

"Oh my April, thank God you're here." she hold April's arm.

"What happened? Who's hurt?" April was getting impatient.

"Joshua cheated on Lex." she started.

"He what?!"

"I suggested we go to a party and blow off some steam, and while we were there the building caught fire and she didn't get out in time and now they don't know if she's going to make it." Jayden's emotions consisted of both anger and despair.

"I cannot believe this is happening-"Jayden cuts April off screaming.

"What the hell is Joshua doing here!"

She was ready to kick his ass, April stopped her and reassured her she would handle it.

"You really have some balls showing up here." she yells in the middle of the waiting room.

He tried to answer and before he could April had slapped him right across the face...
