Making my way to him, he nodded and slowly stood while glancing back into her room. "She is on oxygen, she'll need to be on it for the next few hours and she should be fine. We're not sure how, but there doesn't seem to be much wrong with her lungs. I had to have them give her some sedatives, she hates hospitals and won't stay in one. If she starts waking up, page the nurse and she'll give her another dose. It's for her own good, I don't have anywhere else I can keep her right now." Patting my shoulder, he started to walk away.

"Chief." I called, watching as he looked back tiredly at me.

"I'm sorry for your loss." I knew Mila was going through it without even knowing Mr. Moore was dead, but the man raised Chief Quick. I guess he raised the both of them. Giving a sad nod to me, I was sure he was going back to Chief Jenkins for more press conferences and drama with this new case. Sighing, I entered our room to find a nurse checking on Mila and checking her vitals.

"Sorry sir you can't be in here." Began the nurse, and I waved her off.

"I'm her partner."

"Oh I'm so sorry! Your wife is doing just fine, she'll be out for awhile though."

"No I''m... okay thank you." It makes absolutely no sense, but she just jumbled my brain with that sentence. I couldn't even think clearly enough to form a sentence and correct her. All because of Mila, she's making me lose all sense. Walking over to her, I frowned at how peaceful she looked. Why couldn't she look like this when she was awake? Smacking that thought out of my head, I couldn't help but laugh to myself. Looking up at me confused, I realized the nurse had no idea what was so funny.

"I'm sorry?" Trying to understand why I had laughed, I sighed realizing I had laughed out loud.

"I was just thinking that she seems so peaceful whenever she knocked out, it's probably the longest time that she ever stays still." Smirking as she breathed calmly, I started to feel bad for her.

"This hospital has seen her name more times than actually meeting her. They say that she has the palest expression when you see her escaping, it makes me sad to see her being admitted because I know it will come eventually. She never stays in here, it's like she's terrified of being here." Going on relentlessly about a side to Mila I'd only seen from her nightmares, leaving her here seemed like I was going against her wishes. As long as she's sedated though, she can get the help she needs. Chief Quick is sure to have my ass if I don't make sure she stays here also. In the midst of my thought process, a male nurse came in with some clipboards.

"Sorry to barge in, Chief Quick had mentioned about a change in her POA?" Started the nurse, looking between the original nurse and myself.

"POA?" I asked, looking confused.

"Power of Attorney, the one who makes the patients wishes and health decisions when they aren't able to verbally make them themself." Explaining what they were looking for, I wasn't sure what to tell them as Chief Quick had already left.

"This is her partner." Nodded the female nurse as she took her things and started heading for the door. "She's looking good so far by the way, just let me know when she starts waking up and we'll get her comfortable again." Sadly smiled the nurse as she left.

"I need you to sign these papers temporarily until your wife wakes up and chooses to either keep you as her POA or to change you out. We need to legally have someone to make decisions for her until she's capable again for herself. " Stated the man as he handed me the clipboard. Before I could even explain to him that I was her work partner and not her husband, he had left the room. Chief Quick told them about her change in emergency contact, maybe he knew that they were going to ask for someone and purposefully left it for me to sign? Sighing, I signed the forms and grabbed my oxygen tank and pulled it along with a chair up next to her bed. Watching her breath fog up her mask, I leaned back in my chair and pressed my own mask to my face.
