"What did you say to her?" Growled Adrian, snapping out of whatever daze he was in. He was beyond furious, but what Ryan said was true.
"We need some help over here!" Called a few fireman as they rushed over to us and started tending to Ryan and I. The thing is, I didn't deserve any help. Pushing them off of me, I slowly started making my way to my car as a bunch of angry officers barged over to me.
"What were you doing in there, you're not a firefighter!" I was sure they were going to tell Ronald, but I didn't care. My friend needed saving, and I let him down. He wouldn't have left if I didn't make him, it's my fault he didn't find Rolo. If I had left earlier than maybe I could've saved Rolo as well. But why didn't Adrian enter when he was there before me. Looking over at him confused, I found him already staring as the voices of everyone shouting around me droned out. Looking around at the chaos I did and everyone I had hurt, I needed to get out of there and go to my safe place. Hopping into my car, I could just make out Adrian yelling for me as I peeled off down the street just as Ronald and Chief Jenkins pulled up where I had parked. Adrian had tried to leave. But was stopped by the two of them in the process. Free to be on my own, I sped down the roads and got to my house in record time.
Throwing the car in park, I ran to the side of the porch and puked, this was Vincent's doing. Any shred of fear I held for him gone, I hated his guts. Yet at the moment, I hated mine more. Turning to open the door, I found the devil himself with a gun pointed right at me. Tossing me a rope, he shook his head and laughed. "Tie yourself up. I'd never imagined it would be that easy to commandeer your vehicle with you in it, and get you to take me to your little nest. Hurry up now, and get inside."
"Upping your game to a criminal, no more childish games and puzzles?" Sighing, I tied my hands as told and winced as he smashed his gun across my face.
"I am a grown man, not a child. They aren't games, they're riddles that you seem to lack motivation to solve anymore. Did you give up on saving your friends? Or.... did you give up on yourself?" Laughing, he pushed me into the conference room where all of my Midnight Murderer boards were. "Oh, I see now. Something or rather someone else has caught your attention. Is that it? This monster is clouding the light I deserve, he's mocking everything I've worked for. He doesn't get to get the last laugh, I do!" Getting riled up over all of the pictures around, he began swiping at them and kicked a chair in my direction. "SIT DOWN!" Furious now, I watched as he grabbed more rope from his bag and carefully made his way toward me. Once he had a few layers around me, he tied the knot and disappeared from the room.
"You don't scare me you coward, I'll end you!" Anxious and yet tired of his games, I found just a hint of fear coming back. He wouldn't just tie me up and leave me here, it isn't like him. Did he bring a hostage? Is he going to kill an innocent right in front of me? There's so many different ways this could go! Where is Adrian? I am surprised they've even allowed me to be free this long. I'm sure Ronald is coming back to scold me in person himself. I still haven't forgiven him, and Mo. Mo! I didn't go see him, I need to know what the nurse wanted to say. "Im not afraid of you!"
"But you should be." His voice was dead as he carried in containers of gasoline and smirked at my reaction. "You see, I only escaped to play some more with you. Then I found out that my name was jeopardized. No one is scared of me, my gang no longer follows my orders. Do you know who's orders they follow? MY MOTHER'S!!! She and that slut I used to claim as my own switched sides and outcasted me in my own town. And my cousin, the cousin I held closest that wouldn't betray me. He now is in jail with a gunshot wound because of you and he cut his ties to me for them. You've won in the end, you've beaten my games and took more than you needed."
"You really are a psychopath." My heart pounded as rage returned to his eyes and he began to pour the liquid all over the room and out to the entry to cover the entire bottom floor before returning to me.
