Trying to regain my breath, I knew it needed to happen fast and quietly or we would be caught by sound alone. I leaned back against the building we were hidden against, thankful that there was a mountain of trash to go out for the week. "Listen carefully, your only option left until I can get to you is the house. I know we don't know this Adrian character very much at all, but he's your only hope at the moment with your current injuries.

"But Mo." I whispered, mentally hitting myself for speaking out loud with the enemy so close. Holding my side to breath, I nearly cursed myself when realizing that I had been traveling all of this time without my gun. Adrian had been right earlier, I would be dead without his help right now. I of course choose not to enlighten him on the fact, but it does give me a little more perspective on his thoughts and rationale.

"Mo isn't home, he won't be home for quite some time. We'll speak on that later, I need you to get to safety. We'll figure out how your location was so easily found later. Mo was right, we should have just kept you home all along. I don't know if we can trust Detective  Amour, but I'm more worried about your life. Get your ass to the house and call me once you're safe, I'll be down as soon as I can." Hanging up the phone, I sighed as I put it away. The man was getting closer now, I could sense him coming nearer and nearer. He was smart enough to check piles, he would be onto us in seconds. Lights from several houses had been turned on after the sounds shot across the night air, suspicious neighbors would look out of their windows for signs of the source.

"Oi, let's go!" Called the man checking the adjacent alley to the man that was now just merely a foot or two from our hiding place. Cursing under his breath, the man kicked some garage that flew right past us as he turned and met up with his friend to check the next set of alleys.

"What did Chief Quick inform us to do?" Questioned Adrian as he watched and waited for the two men to turn out of site.

"We'll go to my place, only you and I need to know that this is the location we are staying at. No one else meets us there, knows we're there, nothing. Someone gave off our location, we shouldn't have been found that easily." Keeping out the part that we didn't remove him from our list of suspicions, I decided to leave that to myself until we were safely away from the area. If we cut through the woods it will be harder for them to track us, it's a straight shot from there." Giving off my orders, he surprisingly listened to me without any complaints. Giving a nod for him to follow me, we left toward the opposite end of the alley. There was a wide open field for about three more blocks, then we would have the cover of the woods to get us home.

"Where's your gun?" He questioned as we snuck toward the end of the alley and stopped just at the edge to look if it was clear.

"I don't know. Now that I think of it, my badge and gun were never given back to me at the hospital. Did you see them?" Looking to Adrian, I could see the hard look on his face as he tried to think about it.

"I don't know. There was so much going on that day, and so many people cutting in to help. That's kind of irresponsible of you not to have realized this long." Huffed Adrian, getting a glare from me as he still found the time to nag about something even in the situation we were in. Deciding to ignore him just this once, I took a peak to see if the coast was clear before motioning for him to follow me. I got just around the corner before I felt him tug my wrist and slide past me before letting me go once I was behind him. "No gun remember, I'm taking lead." As much as I wanted to swat him for being arrogant, I couldn't deny that he had a point while we were out in the open.

We started making our way across the building, taking time to pause between dumpsters when we got the chance. "I'm starting to think this was planned, you not having your gun to protect yourself as we got ambushed." Began Adrian, causing me to roll my eyes as he now wants to claim this was a trap as I've already stated previously. Motioning for me to follow, we passed the second alley when one of the men's barrels pointed out from the edge. "Down." I whispered before shoving him to the ground between the next set of dumpsters. The two of us rolled together to the cover of the shadows the two dumpsters cast, I ended up landing hovering above Adrian as the two of us tried to catch our breath. My lungs were on fire, and I could feel the burn from the pavement as we had rolled. He definitely landed on my ribs at one point, he was partially to blame for the pain I was feeling. "Give me the gun." I said breathlessly, not daring to move a muscle as the barrel to the gun started to come out further and further.
