Though we had both split up and gone our separate ways, I found myself tirelessly laying in bed staring at the ceiling and listening to the sounds of the house. At some point Adrian had left the room and went to the bathroom for quite some time, I had heard the closet doors and assumed he'd finally taken up the offer to wear Ronalds clothes as pajamas and get himself cleaned up. The meds didn't seem to be doing the trick anymore as nausea slightly made itself aware to me, and the pain levels went up as I started to feel cold. Acknowledging that sleep wouldn't come willingly to me, I decided to make myself some warm milk with honey in hopes of it doing the trick. As I opened the door, I found Adrian just starting to close his own. "Couldn't sleep still either?" I joked weakly, the nausea seemed to rise the longer I stood.

"Afraid not." Smirking back sheepishly, he waited as I closed my door as well.

"I'm going to make some milk and honey, do you want some? It doesn't always work for me, but on the times it does I promise it works wonders." I said, my voice quiet as I tried to fight of the nauseousness.

"Sure, I was going to use the bathroom but then I'll be down. Thanks." He said, looking me over concerned. "You feeling alright?" He asked, not too sure how to approach the topic.

"Just a little nauseous, which I am sure is just from the pain. I'll leave you out some crackers too." I said, dismissing any further conversation regarding me and heading to the elevator. I'm afraid if I take the stairs that the nausea will catch up to me. Once in the kitchen, I quickly grabbed out the ingredients and turned on the stove. If I was in a big hurry I would normally just microwave it, but I want it to have the best possible outcome. Taking a bite of a cracker, I got the cups out and leaned against the counter as the nausea hit an all time high. I blew out a shaky breath as I began to sweat profusely. The milk was just warming, not quite hot enough for me to add the honey and serve it yet. It wasn't until I started to hear my own heartbeat pounding within my chest that I realized I should probably take a seat until it was ready. Black dots started to take over my vision as I made my way around the counter, and a sense of not being inside of my own body took over as I reached for a chair. Suddenly, there was no gravity and I felt myself slipping backwards and loosing grip of the chair. I hit the ground but couldn't feel anything as my breaths became more shallow and my vision started fading.

"Is the milk almost ready?" Came Adrian, his voice sounded to distant. "Detective Ro-, Mila what happened?" Suddenly boomed his concerned voice as his face appeared before my own. At this time, I'll add a headache to my massive list of problems.

"I don't know." I weakly managed out, even talking seemed like a task. My vision was almost completely gone as I felt a tapping of my cheeks.

"Hey, hey, hey, don't do this to me. Come on, stay with me." Cursed Adrian as my eyes closed for good and I felt like I was floating in a black void.

................

When I came downstairs and saw Mila on the kitchen floor, my heart started to pound as I looked around for any sign of an intruder. There was no one in the room that I could find and the stove had been left on. The milk wasn't even done. We had already been through so much tonight, another attack would send me over the edge. Racing over to check on her once I was sure there wouldn't be an ambush, I rolled her onto her back and listened for breathing. Her eyes were just slightly open and she had sweat beads across her forehead. She looked worse than earlier, worse than I've seen her. She claimed she didn't know what was wrong, her voice was weak as her eyes started to shut on me.

Cursing, I sat my head against her chest and listened for her heartbeat. It was beating fast, but at least it was still beating. Her breath was there, I could just faintly hear it as she laid limp on the floor. Searching my pockets for my phone, I cursed when realizing that I had left it upstairs. Scooping her up, I remembered the secret stairwell she had slipped from earlier and slide it open with my foot before running up the steps with her in my arms. I hadn't done hard core exercises like this in awhile, I found myself gasping for air by the time I made it to the top floor. Quickly bursting into her room, I set her gently on her bed before running next door for my phone. Dialing up the only number I knew, I waited impatiently in her doorway as it went through. "Goodness gracious Amour, do you know what time it is?" Groaned my boss, clearly asleep unlike the rest of us.
